Patriot Golf Day Aug. 29–Sept. 1
Napa Valley Country Club, Eagle Vines Golf Club and Chardonnay Golf Club are participating in Patriot Golf Day, which runs from Aug. 29-Sept. 1. It is jointly supported by the PGA of America and the U.S. Golf Association.
All you have to do is go out and golf at a Patriot Golf Day participating facility listed on playgolfamerica.com. If it is a public facility, the course will add $1 to your green fees. If you are a member of a private facility, the facility will ask that you make a $1 donation. You may also donate online at patriotgolfday.com.
The proceeds raised during Patriot Golf Day nationwide will benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation to provide educational scholarships to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Adult education fall golf classes start Sept. 2
Napa Valley Adult Education is offering six-week golf classes for the fall.
All classes are held at the Vintner’s Golf Club in Yountville and are taught by golf professionals.
Choose from several six-week sessions starting Sept. 2, from 5-6 p.m. The cost for each six-week session is $125. The basic class meets Tuesday or Thursday evening, and the intermediate golf class meets Wednesday, 5-6 p.m.

Girls volleyball registration deadline Sept. 3
The city of Napa will have a girls volleyball league for players ages 9 to 14. The season will begin with one-hour practices (Mondays and Wednesdays) starting Sept. 22 at the Las Flores Community Center. Games will begin on Oct. 8. The registration deadline is Sept. 3. Youth flag football league deadline Sept. 4
The city of Napa’s offering a flag football program for boys and girls, 6-12 years of age. Teams will practice once per week beginning Sept. 22. Games begin Oct. 4 and run through Nov. 15 at the JFK softball fields. Volunteer coaches are needed. The cost is $79.

City of Napa adult volleyball program deadline Sept. 4
The city of Napa’s Community Resources Department is offering an adult volleyball program, which has both fall and winter sessions, with five- or six game-seasons at the Las Flores Community Center. The fall session is from Sept. 16 to Nov. 13. The deadline to register is Sept. 4. The winter session is Dec. 2 to Feb. 5. The deadline to register is Nov. 13.
Teams will play on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings, from 6 to 10 p.m. All games will be self-officiated and scored. Divisions are subject to change, without team notification, prior to the start of the season based on total team enrollment. Teams will be placed into divisions according to ability, player personnel and previous performance. Completed rosters must accompany entry fee prior to the start of each season. Open league teams consist of men, women, or any combination of the two.

Napa Valley Baseball Club tryouts Sept. 6-7
The Napa Valley Baseball Club will be holding an open practice/tryout for its 13-and-under and 14-and-under teams.
The 14U team will have a tryout Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. at Cleve Borman Field in Yountville.
The 13U team will try out on Sept. 7 at 5:15 p.m. at the same spot. Any player turning 13 before April 30, 2009 will play as a 13-year-old and any player turning 14 before April 30, 2009 will play as a 14-year-old. For more information, check: www.eteamz.com/napariverdog.

NVC Foundation to honor Frank Humpert Sept. 13
The Napa Valley College Foundation will honor Frank Humpert with a reception, dinner program, silent auction and dancing on Sept. 13 at the Meritage Resort. All proceeds benefit the NVC Foundation, which provides scholarship support, instruction, classroom technology and lab equipment, library resources and student success programs. MS chapter plans anniversary ride Sept. 13-14

Reyes Memorial Golf Tournament Sept. 26
The Manny Reyes Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 26 at the Yountville Vinters Golf Course with an 11 a.m. shotgun start.
Registration deadline is Sept. 22. Cost is $111 for the round of golf and dinner. The post-tournament dinner will begin at 5 p.m. and cost is $30 for those who don’t golf. Individuals who wish to attend the gathering at 8 p.m. will be charged $10.

Ultra-Endurance bike race Oct. 18-19
Shannon Ridge Winery will host the final race of the 2008 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Ultra-Endurance Calendar. Titled the Shannon Ridge Showdown, the event will take place in Clearlake Oaks in Lake County, Oct. 18-19.
The Shannon Ridge Showdown Ultra-Endurance race will be a 16-hour competition and the course itself is approximately 7.5 miles in length with over 1,700 feet of climbing per lap. The race will begin in front of the Shannon Ridge tasting room on Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks at 4 p.m. on Oct. 18 and will end at 8 a.m. on Oct. 19 in the mountain vineyards directly across from the home of winery owners Clay and Margarita Shannon.

The American Canyon Patriots are now accepting applications for cheer and dance coaches to lead their competitive cheer program. Limited coaching positions are still available at all levels. Head coaches must be at least 21 years old; assistant coaches, 18 years old; junior advisors, 14 years old. High school football officials needed

Napa Valley MAGA accepting members
The Napa Valley Mexican American Golf Association is looking for new members. Men and women age 21 and older are eligible to join MAGA, which plays a tournament schedule monthly in Napa, Solano, Santa Rosa and Contra Costa counties.
There are also openings for directors on the organization’s board. This is the 39th year of Napa Valley MAGA.

Napa Youth Soccer free soccer swap

Napa Saints cheer coaches needed
The award-winning Napa Saints cheer program is now accepting applications for all coaching positions for the 2008 season. Interviews will begin in February and March. Head coaches must be 21 years of age, assistant coaches 18 years of age, and junior coaches between the ages of 14-17. Cheer and/or dance experience is desired.
