Monday, Aug. 25, 2:45 p.m.Though we were tempted Sunday night with private parties at mansions outside Denver and a concert at Red Rocks with Dave Matthews and Sheryl Crow, we chose to attend the All-Delegate Celebration at the Colorado Convention Center ... and we were not disappointed one bit.

Apparently at past conventions, individual states had individual events for their delegations.  This year, the Democratic National Convention Committee chose an event that brought all delegates from across the nation together for a wonderful unity event. I met delegates from Florida, Indiana, Nevada, Iowa and the list goes on.

The event was "Reorganizing Katrina Relief Organizations," with donations going to the gulf states for relief and recovery efforts. The New Orleans-themed party included wonderful New Orleans music and food.

While the music and food were amazing — with a special appearance by Randy Newman singing "Lousiana" — the highlight for me and many others was hearing from DNC Chair Gov. Howard Dean.  Dean got us pumped up with Obama's slogan "Fired Up...Ready to Go." I stood about seven feet away from Dean as he reminded all of us that for Obama to win, we must keep up our continued hard work and dedication in all 50 states. And we will! 

What happens in Denver, won't stay in Denver, it will change the world!

Today is officially the beginning of the convention. I attended the California Delegation breakfast with fellow California delegates. The California delegation is the most diverse and largest, consisting of 441 delegates. California Democratic Party Chair Art Torres addressed our delegation as did House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, DNC Vice Chair Mike Honda, State Sen. Dean Florez and Secretary of State Debra Bowen. We all love Debra Bowen for her continued hard work to ensure that each vote is counted.

The convention begins at 4 p.m. today, with Pelosi is opening the convention. We're leaving our hotel at about 3 and we're all so incredibly excited. I've hooked up with some friends from the East Bay who are Obama delegates as well as members of Democracy for America. It's hard to believe that this day has finally come.

The theme for tonight is One Nation and speakers include Michelle Obama, Pelosi, President Jimmy Carter and a tribute to Sen. Edward "Ted" Kennedy.        

For now, I'm off to the convention center to participate in the Hispanic Caucus.
