Vicente Cazares was driving west on Harrison Avenue in west Napa near Avon Street on Sunday afternoon. Hesuddenly changed speeds when he spotted a police patrol car approaching him, police said.

Cazares sped toward Kilburn Avenue, running a stop sign, police said. He pulled into a grocery store parking lot and started to run from the vehicle. He didn’t get far.
Police nabbed him, holding the screwdriver he used to start the car, police said. The vehicle was determined to have been stolen out of American Canyon, police said.

When officers searched Cazares, they found him in possession of a glass smoking pipe, police said.
Cazares, 26, of Napa was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicle theft and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

" With all of the auto thefts in this area, Napa police have their work cut out for them! I wonder, did the thief plan on using that screwdriver as a weapon? And 26 years old? Shame on you! Get a life! "
