A 16-year-old suspected Sureño gang member was arrested and booked Friday at Napa Juvenile Hall for assault with a deadly weapon on the 300 block of Brown Street.

The juvenile is suspected of participating in a fight against a group of Norteño gang members, police said.
Napa Police’s gang unit is investigating the incident, Napa Sgt. John Kostelac said Saturday.

" Wow - again lack of information... Only one person arrested in a gang fight? That is very surprising to me.... "

" This kid is arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, give him a good slap on the wrist. Next time it will be for murder. I know there is some who will say, but he's only 16, like a 16 year old can't hurt or kill someone with a weapon. Give me a break!!!!!!! "

" winooak-- I agree with you. 16 year olds and younger can and will kill, Now this kid is going to be really mad because he got busted and he will want and try to get away with more just to prove to the other gang members that he is not afraid. "

" I saw three "hoods" walking on Jefferson the other day and I think they were looking to rumble. I quickly pushed the power door locks on my land rover just to be safe though. "

" More information on this would be very helpful. I had two guys walk down my street yesterday and one of them had a red bandana hanging out of the back of his pants. He also seemed to be upset about something. Maybe it was this. "

" I'm glad we have a gang task force to deal with these troubled teens. They work very hard to keep these gang members apart and in jail. "

" So So tired of the disrespect from these so called gang members. My 17 year old daughter has to keep someone one phone while she walks to the store to buy an ice cream. I moved from Tenderloin, SF to Napa to get away from this crap. I think i felt safer in Frisco "

" Why can't we get the news? To just print something like this without giving any information accomplishes what exactly? When was the fight? Where was the fight? Amazing. Why print anything at all? To get people paranoid? Once again no information. "

" It could be that the police are keeping any additional information under wraps, pending investigation, but it would be better to simply say so. "
