A Chandler, Ariz., couple vacationing in the wine country had the kibosh put on their wine tasting and sightseeing, when the man was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting his wife, officials said.

James Leslie Alseike and his 52-year-old wife were driving in the 4000 block of Sonoma Highway on Thursday afternoon.
Alseike asked her for directions, and she was having a difficult time reading the map, Capt. John Robertson said.

That prompted an argument, which lead him to him allegedly slapping her six to 10 times in the face with the back of his hand, Robertson said.
Alseike stopped the car, reached over, opened the passenger door and shoved the woman out of the car, he said.

Two construction workers who were driving in their truck saw what was happening, made a U turn and went to the aid of the women.
They also called 911.

By the time deputies showed up, Alseike had returned to where he dumped his wife and was arrested.

Alseike, 49, was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence.

" like 1 to 5 would make it ok? Jeez...I'm not surprised there are more incidents like this. I've seen alot of 4 alarm arguements between tourist couples and it's not fun. I can only imagine more uptight, power hungry tourists as we go farther upscale... "

" That poor woman... I really hope she doesn't return to that man. This is her chance to make a break and get a fresh start. "
