NOTES AND QUOTES for a Thursday in the Napa Valley:

Jimmy Cacho has had a very good summer for the La Rinconada Country Club team in the Bay Cities League of Junior Golfers.
Cacho, a Justin-Siena High School graduate who plays golf for Santa Clara University, shot a 6-under-par 64 in a match against host Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club, giving La Rinconada of Los Gatos the overall championship.

Bay Cities League is a premier junior golf league that consists of 31 private and semi-private golf clubs in the Bay Area. It ranges in location from Olympic Club to the west, Santa Rosa to the north, El Macero to the east, and Coyote Creek to the south. Players range in age from 7 through 21. Some go on to college level golf, and some have become stars on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and other tours.
Bay Cities League was formed in 1967. It is a California non-profit corporation.

Cacho, who had several low scores all summer, will be joined on the Santa Clara golf team in the fall by his brother, Danny, who graduated in June from Justin-Siena.
At the senior awards ceremony at Justin-Siena in June, Danny Cacho was presented with the Dennis Rathjen Memorial/Vintner’s Golf Club scholarship for academics, community service, leadership and golf. He will play for Santa Clara on a scholarship.

Pecora led Dominican — a small, private NAIA-Division II school in San Rafael — in kills (323) and digs (295) as the Penguins tied for the California Pacific Conference title with Holy Names University. For her all-around play, she was named as the CalPac Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference.

Pecora averaged 3.67 kills and 3.35 digs per game while hitting .249 as the Penguins went 14-9 overall.
