It’s becoming clear that the Farmers Market can’t stay at the Copia parking lot and Copia CEO Garry McGuire confirms that all of Copia’s underused land will be developed for other purposes eventually.
The Oxbow Market has offered use of its parking lots, but it may not be adequate.
Now the Wine Train has suggested its lot. Or lots.
The large fenced-in parking lot north of the train station is for the train’s use, and could be used for parking while vendors occupy the lot around the station.
The Wine Train station also has bathrooms.
Copia expands educational videos
Copia is producing many food, wine and related videos and has already posted many on its Web site www.copia.org.
The old Web site was just a calendar of events.
Copia has upgraded its video equipment to modern standards.
It is producing the videos in the Meyer Food Forum but at the end of the season, it will replace the upstairs Forks in the Road exhibit and an unused hallway with two studio classrooms plus space for corporate conferences.
The real story of the Barretts of Montelena
As an antidote to the fanciful movie Bottle Shock, watch a new documentary video on the father-son team of Jim and Bo Barrett of Chateau Montelena on YouTube at youtube.com/watch?v=EwluBZqvpLo.
It was produced by St. Helena’s Sandy Timpson. It’s titled “Chateau Montelena: First in its Class.”
The video was shot by Calistogan Gary Felder and edited by Angwin filmmaker Brian Capener.
Timpson is a wine communications consultant and owns Wine Ink and Wine Ink Media. She was formerly public relations director at Robert Mondavi Winery, a corporate communications director and broadcast journalist.
She and Capener have formed a company to make documentaries.
She can be reached at 967-8201.
Trahan tasting room in downtown Napa
Wine tasting rooms continue to proliferate in downtown Napa.
The latest is Trahan Winery, which will occupy the space on Franklin Street that once held Back Room Wines.
Chuck and Janna Custodio make the wine with his mother, Elizabeth (Liz) Trahan Berry, whose family made wine in France.
For more information call 342-1364 or www.trahanwinery.com.
Jessup Cellars tasting room expanded
Jessup Cellars in Yountville has expanded into the adjacent art gallery. The gallery is still in use. The winery uses the rooms for special tastings and events. It includes snacks with some tastings.
The tasting room is open to the public daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Jessup also offers tasting at its winery in the Napa Valley Corporate Park at 25 Enterprise Court, but call first: 252-5930.
