Bodega Bay

With some continuing good weather, the boats out of Wil’s Bait & Tackle (875-2323) have been able to run.
Here’s one good report from above Salt Point for Monday: 40 rock cod and five lings.

Lings are biting on white scampis.
Clear Lake

On Monday, we boated and released nine bass.
Top weight was 5.75 pounds.

He was long and skinny; at normal weight he would have gone over six pounds.

Five blow-ups on top water — including one on a clown spook that pro guide Bob Myskey (349-4460) had tricked up with black markings on the belly.

The rest fell to natural color plastics — crawdads, Brush Hogs, worms.

Reports are that the night-time catfish bite continues, and that there are some crappy sightings from time to time.

California Delta

Warm weather catfish angling is in full swing.

Bring plenty of mackerel, chicken livers, clams and anchovies.

Both channel cats and whites are biting.

Target largemouth bass in the East Delta and smallies in the West Delta.

Fish mats, riprap and timber for the large mouths with spinner baits, frogs, Speed Traps and Senkos.

For the smallies, try grubs, in-line spinners and small Speed Traps under trees and around pumps.

Thanks goes to Roland “Innovate” Aspiras for this report.

San Pablo Dam Reservoir

The gray and gray/blue Ex-Cel lure is the hot ticket right now for trout.

Fish early at 35 to 40 feet for limits, with top fish going up to three pounds.

Silver/gray Roboworms will get you bass limits. Start in five feet early, then move to 10 to 15 as the sun goes up.

Sacramento River/Lake Shasta

Kirk and Lisa Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventure Sport Fishing messaged in that the wild rainbow trout bite on flies on the Sac continues to be steady.

Expect 15 to 20 hookups with one- to three-pound trout.

A four-pounder will surprise you — so pay attention.

Shasta has had a solid summer season for both king salmon and trout. Call Lisa at (800) 670-4448 to see what’s on tap now.

Napa River

Tough to score a keeper striper, but there are plenty of shakers to keep the kids occupied on the bank day after day. Soak cut bait for best results. Troll live bait if you can find any for bigger keepers.

Lake Berryessa

Summertime isn’t kind to fishing here.
