Napa Valley Swim standouts sparkle

Napa Valley Swim Team defended it’s Redwood Empire Swim League championship crown, defeating the 10 other teams in their league.
NVST finished first by more than 675 points during the three-day meet held 7/25-7/27/08 in El Cerrito. NVST swimmers not only set many RESL records, but three swimmers also won their individual age group high point trophy.

In the girls 8-and-under division, swimming in their first swim meet were Maya Douglas and Emily Dusky. Achieving 100 percent best times were Cline Parra, Grace Wahle and Quinn Jensen. Jensen also finished first in the 25-meter backstroke and achieved a new “A” time in the 25 free and 50 free.
Karenna Meyer, who also achieved a new “A” time in the 25 fly and 25 back. Rebecca Reynolds, who also achieved a new “A” time in the 50 freestyle. The medley relay team of Quinn Jensen, Karenna Meyer, Rebecca Reynolds and Celine Parra placed second. Finished third in the freestyle relay was the team of Scout Hanson-Jerrard, Rebecca Reynolds, Celine Parra and Jensen.

In the boys 8-and-under division, swimming in their first swim meet were Will Flanders and Barrett McMichael. Achieving 100 percent best times were Joey Douglas, William Fallini-Haas, and Robert Mitchell.
Quinn McMichael achieved a new “A” time in the 50 freestyle. Cayd Roberts achieved a new “A” time in the 100 IM and finished first in the 25 breastroke. Patrick Smorra also represented NVST by finishing 12th in the 25 breastroke. The medley and freestyle relay team of William Fallini-Haas, Cayd Roberts, Quinn McMichael and Robert Mitchell finished first overall.

In the girls 9-10 division, the winner of this age group’s high point trophy was Megan Minor. Minor achieved 100 percent best times and first-place finishes in her eight individual events. Minor also set RESL records in the 100 freestyle (1:03.85, old record 1:04.17), 50 backstroke (33.23, old record 35.33), 100 IM (1:12.15, old record 1:15.03) and the 200 IM (2:34.89, old record 2:41.37). Minor also achieved a new “A” and Far Western time in the 50 breastroke.

Madi Anderson achieved a new “A” and J.O. time in the 100 freestyle;, a new J.O. time in the 200 IM, a new A time in the 50 backstroke and a new BB time in the 50 butterfly. Nathalie Brewster achieved 100 percent best times and a new A and J.O. time in the 100 IM and a new “BB” time in the 50 breastroke.

Maddie Perna achieved 100 percent best times and new “BB” times in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and a new “B” time in the 50 butterfly. Belle Calforda achieved 100 percent best times. Isabella Corley achieved 100 percent best times and a new “BB” time in the 100 IM; Olivia Ha-Hoang achieved 100 percent best times and new ‘BB” times in the 100 free, 200 free and 50 backstroke. Alissa Meyer achieved 100 percent times. Also representing NVST were Annika Erickson and Kathleen Schafle.

The relay team of Minor, Anderson, Brewster and Perna placed first in the 200 freestyle relay and first in the 200 medley relay, where they also achieved a new Far Western Time. The relay team of Ha-Hoang, Schafle, Meyer and Calforda placed sixth in the Medley relay and fourth in the freestyle relay.

In the boys 9-10 division, Rio Barnes achieved 100 percent best times and a new “AA” and J.O. time in the 50 and 100 free, a new “A” and Far Western time in the 200 free. He also set new “A” times in the 50 fly, 100 IM and 200 IM and a new “BB” time in the 50 breastroke.

Bradley John Erickson achieved 100 percent best times and a new “AA” and Far Western time in the 50 breastroke, as well as a new “AA” and J.O. time in the 100 IM, a new “A” and J.O. time in the 50 free, 200 free, 50 fly and 200 IM.

Louis Ayers achieved a new “A” and J.O. time in the 50 back and new “BB” times in the 200 free, 50 breast and 50 fly. Noah Douglas earned a new “BB” time in the 200 IM. Jack Hebb earned 100 percent best times and a new “BB” time in the 50 free. Also representing NVST was Clark Williamson.

Setting new RESL medley and free records, and finishing first overall, was the team of Barnes, Erickson, Ayers and Noah Douglas. The new free relay time of 2:07.47 broke the record of 2:09.67 and the new medley relay time of 2:29.39 broke the record of 2:29.63.

In the girls 11-12 division, the winner of this age group’s high point trophy, was Elise Roberts.

Roberts placed first in seven of her events and second in another. Roberts achieved a new “AA” and Far Western time in the 50 free and breaking the one-minute for the first time in the her 100 freestyle. She achieved a new “AA” time (59.29).  Alex Swanson achieved a new “AA” and J.O. time in the 50 breast, a new “A” and JO time in the 100 IM and a new “A” time in the 200 free. Emily Stephens achieved 100 percent best times and a new “A” time in the 50 free and new “BB” times in the 100 free, 200 free, 100IM and 200 IM.

Megan Perna achieved 100 percent best times. She had new “BB” times in her 50 free, 200 free and 100 back and new “B” times in her 100 free and 50 back. Ashley Amundson achieved 100 percent best times and new “B” times in the 200 free and 100 breast. Madeline Cline achieved 100 percent best times and new “B” times in the 200 free, 200 IM and new “BB” times in the 100 IM and 50 fly.

Joanna Haas achieved 100 percent best times and a new “BB” time in the 50 fly and a new “B” time in the 200 free. Shania Stagner achieved 100 percent best times and a new “B” time in the 100 free. Leigh Jensen earned a new “BB” time in the 200 free. Stephanie Lockett achieved 100 percent best times. Mia Facey achieved 100 percent best times. Rose Ballantine achieved seven best times.

Riley Hebb achieved six best times. Chloe King achieved six best times and Elyssa Jane Erickson achieved five best times. Swimming in her first meet was Angie Geravsio. Also representing NVST were Jacquelynn Buresh and Elizabeth Schafle.

The medley relay team of Swanson, Roberts, Facey and Stephens placed first and the medley relay team of Perna, Stagner, Amundson and Ballantine finished fourth. The free relay team of Roberts, Swanson, Stephens and Ballantine placed first and the free relay team of Jensen, Amundson, Haas and Facey finished fourth.

In the boys 11-12 division, achieving 100 percent best times were Miles McArdle and Jack Williamson. Daniel Richardson achieved seven  best times and a new “BB” time in the 50 freestyle. Tyne Hanson-Jerrard achieved three best times. The medley relay team of Williamson, Hanson-Jerrard, Richardson and McArdle finished fourth overall.

In the girls 13-14 division, Megan Morris finished first overall in the 100 backstroke and first in the 100 butterfly, where she achieved a new “AAA” time. Morris also set RESL records in the 100 backstroke (1:01.38, previous record 1:01.58) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.94, previous record 1:01.16).

Chloe Hubbard achieved new “AA” and J.O. times in the 50 free and 100 butterfly, a new “A” and J.O. time in the 100 breastroke and new “A” times in the 200 free and 200 IM. Ximena Mendieta achieved seven best times and a new JO time in the 100 butterfly. Bridget McLoughlin achieved 100 percent best times and new “B” times in the 100 free and 200 free. Ghitta Ferrara achieved five best times and a new “BB” time in the 50 free. Erica Facey achieved three best times.

Also representing NVST were Nicole Rossi and Marcelina Zavala. The medley relay team of Morris, Hubbard, Mendieta and Rossi finished third overall and the free relay team of Morris, Hubbard, Mendieta and Marcelina Zavala finished third. The free relay team of Rossi, Facey, McLoughlin and Ferrara finished seventh.

In the boys 13-14 division, Jake Kennedy achieved 100 percent best times and a new “A” time in the 50 free. He also achieved a new “B” time in the 200 free and 100 fly. Nick Meyer achieved 100 percent best times and new “BB” times in the 50 free, 200 free and 200 IM. He also achieved a new “B” time in the 100 back.

Eric Boessenecker achieved 100 percent best times and a new “B” time in the 100 breastroke. Boessenecker also broke the one-minute time in the 100 free for the first time (58.66). Hayden Corley achieved 100 percent best times and achieved a new “B” time in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 back and 200 IM and achieved a new “B” time in the 200 free, 500 free and 100 breast.

Cody Dusky achieved 100 percent best times. Seth Anderson finished first in the 100 backstroke and second in the 100 butterfly where he achieved a new “A” time. Jonathan Fidler achieved 100 percent best times and a new “A” time in the 100 breast. Sam Starr finished second in the 200 free, 500 free and 100 backstroke.

The free relay team of Kennedy, Boessenecker, Jon Fidler and Seth Anderson placed first overall. Setting a new RESL record, and finishing first overall, was the medley relay team of Sam Starr, Jon Fidler, Seth Anderson and Boessenecker. The new record of 1:55.24 broke the mark of 1:55.85. The medley relay team of Nick Meyer, Hayden Corley, Jake Kennedy and Cody Dusky finished third.

In the girls 15-and-over division, the winner of this age group’s high point trophy was Mary Kate Fidler. Fidler achieved a new “AAA” time in the 50 free and a new “AA” time in the 200 free. Chardonnay Biter-Mundt set new RESL records in the 100 free and 200 free, where she also finished first in each event.

Biter-Mundt also set RESL records in the 50 free with a time of 24.40, the 100 free (52.40, previous record 52.46) and the 200 free (1:54.27, old mark 1:55.11). Biter-Mundt also finished first in the 500 free. Kelly Amodeo achieved a new “A” time in the 100 butterfly. Kelsey Minigan achieved a new “A” time in the 50 free and the 100 free. Also representing NVST were Megan Jessell, Sarah Lenson, Corinne Schafle, Brittany Sicard and Breanna Weber. The freestyle relay team of Sicard, Biter-Mundt, Schafle and Fidler finished second. The medley relay team of Amodeo, Fidler, Biter-Mundt and Sicard finished third.

In the boys 15-and-over division, McCoy Ayers achieved a new “A” time in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.99. Jesse Risinger achieved a new “A” time in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.90. Nick Kozlowski achieved 100 percent best times. Also representing NVST were Anthony Kozlowski and Jacob Sykes. The free relay team of Risinger, Ayers, Nick Kozlowski and Anthony Kozlowski finished seventh and the medley relay team of Ayers, Nick Kozlowski, Sykes and Risinger finished fifth.
