The owner of a Napa pizza parlor -- reported missing earlier this month -- was found dead in Tuolumne County from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Robert Gleason, 52, owner of Papa Joe’s Pizza on Lincoln Avenue was reported missing to Napa police on Aug. 9, Napa Police Cmdr. Andy Lewis said.
His body was found Thursday on a trail in Tuolumne County near Pinecrest Lake by a hiker who was trying to get help for an injured hiker, police said.

Lewis said Gleason’s vehicle was found at a cabin in the Pinecrest area. The cabin is owned by extended family members, and Gleason had been there before, Lewis said.
Gleason had owned Papa Joe’s Pizza for about seven years.

" Our entire family is deeply saddened for the loss of Bob Gleason.

Our prayers go out to his wife and his family. They are both such wonderful people, and this just breaks our hearts.

I don't think we have ever seen Bob without a smile on his face or a random funny story to tell after a hearty greeting! He always made the time to ask our girls how school was going, Bob always had kind words to share.

The last time we saw them was at The Chef's Market and they were all smiles and had a story to tell...

Semper Fi Bob. "

" A self-inflicted gunshot wound does not automatically mean suicide, SouthNapa. The firearm could have gone off by accident. "

SouthNapa wrote on Aug 18, 2008 11:11 PM:

" Yes it does. Self-inflicted means harm done to yourself. If it was thought to be accidental, it would be labeled an accidental shooting. While it is possible this shooting was an accident, I would be surprised if it is later revealed to be an accident.

The term self-inflicted gunshot wound is just a PC way of saying suicide. I can't believe that everybody doesn't know that. "

" This deeply saddens me that this world has lost such a wonderful guy as Bobby was. I knew Bobby, whom I called my brother, and I was his "little sis" for years in my teens and twenties growing up in Napa. He protected, guided, and was there for me through some very hard times. We lost track of each other years ago but he has always remained very dear to me. My very heartfelt condolences to his family and other friends. This world has lost a true shining star. RIP Bobby "

" So sad! Bob was an amazing, uplifting, funny guy! I have only known him for about 3 years as a business to business man and when I would call and say Hi Bob! How are ya? His answer was mostly, "Supercalifragilistic!" He was a huge donator to great community needs. He will be sorely missed...my condolences to his wife, family and all the staff at Papa Joe's. We miss you Bob! "

" I'll apologize up front if this sounds like a commerical, but here's a website for those who knew and loved Bob. www.afsp.org
this is a website for the American Suicide Prevention Foundation and they have some great links that can possibly help the family and friends of Bob in their grief process. They have all sorts of services for suicidal people as well. So if you know anyone who is having issues it couldn't hurt to check it out. It's a fabulous organization that has helped the parents of 2 of my friends that did this.
Speaking from experiencing this 2x in my life, the grief you feel after someone takes their own life is not like the normal grief process that you would expect to go thru after an accidental death or "normal" death. It's absolutely horrid and I'm so so sorry that his family and friends have to go thru this. My heart and prayers are with you all. RIP BOB! "

In a world where things start to make less and less sense, this really takes the cake, I truly wish I could have been there for you as much as you were there for me buddie. The world really did lose a shining star this past week, one that will never be forgotten by many. RIP: My friend, my boss, and my bro: Bob G - I love ya bud. "

When I heard the news I was in complete shock, my heart sank and my mind filled with so many questions that may never be answered. Bob was a great boss and friend. He will forever be missed. I pray that he is now in a better place and we can all find peace after losing a great man. "
