Deception in Corsi's 'Obama Nation'

Save and Share Share
Dear editor, After the publication of his book in 2004 smearing John Kerry, Jerome Corsi is at it again — pumping out lies about the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee. Corsi’s new book, “Obama Nation,” is full of the deceptions, contradictions and distortions that characterize his writing. Mr. Corsi has, in the past, alleged that George W. Bush is trying to dissolve our borders with Mexico and Canada, that oil is inexhaustible, and that the government caused the Twin Towers to fall on 9/11.

Although the abundance of footnotes in the book makes it look legitimate, close inspection reveals that many of them cite Corsi’s own past writing, which is known for statements of religious intolerance and bigotry.
The book’s appearance as No. 1 on the New York Times Best Seller List is mainly due to bulk sales — to right-wing groups.

I suggest that your readers refer to the Web sites snopes.com and factcheck.org to find out the truth about Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain.

" Yes, this Corsi book is not helping anything. The Republicans have descended into a shameful level of lying about Obama that they ought to stop. If he is such a bad candidate why do you need to lie so much?

McCain was running an ad saying Obama was going to raise taxes for incomes down to 42K, for one example. Since he has been called on it as a lie, it has quietly dropped off his ads lately.

This book is the lowest yet. At least with Kerry there was some basis for the criticism, this Obama is secretly a Muslim and all the other stuff they are trying to peddle is revolting. "

" Corsi's book sounds like a good read. It is a fact that George Bush is pushing the North American Union which would dissolve our borders, oil is a sustainable resource (the Gulf of Mexico alone could supply the United States with oil for 500 years), and that the tragic 9/11 incident still leaves many unanswered questions. How can the conclusion be drawn that this book is only being sold to "right wing groups" in bulk-what do they do with the extra copies, give them away. If so, please send me my free copy! "

" I’m with you all the way Dwayne….nothing about the deception Democrats have used for decades to block development of our abundant oil reserves….nothing about the man made global warming scam which is generating hundreds of millions of tax payers research dollars for dozens of partisan liberal organizations and countless agencies within state and federal government….how dare moderates and conservatives respond in kind and question the fairness….the bulk of which is their tax dollars being spent.

About the only media sources Democrat’s don’t control is radio…which incidentally is the only bilateral media left nation wide….they’ve failed miserably to compete on the air waves because their core policies cannot withstand public scrutiny….facts are a dangerous thing to a partisan.

As for Kerry’s Swift boat….when all the officers, and all the sailors on all the other boats that were part of the missions Kerry self proclaimed extraordinary valor, and which to a man claimed Kerry not only failed to complete is mission he turned tailed and ran when he thought he was under enemy fire…‘thought,’ not actually… That can hardly be referred to as being ‘completely’ discredited….but when the libs say it often enough it’s a fact.

….as for snopes…recently they were snooped and found to consistently biased which is sad when they originally founded the site it was a reasonable objective source…and fact checker.com…the DNC official website is the same source….you’ll never find a discrepancy between the two sites…ever.

Besides….since when is turnabout not fair play…. "

Strange, I never heard of any sound basis for the criticism at all. It was a smear campaign, plain and simple. As you noted they are trying to do it with Obama. "

That book was RIGHT on. "

So what? Minor detail if so. Is everything else in the book true?

" Russ-

Obama has released a 41 page document discrediting this book. You obviously disagree with Obamas stances on many issues which should be enough for you. You don't need to defend a book that is nothing more than a hit job and is really a pathetic attempt by a pathetic man to sway people. I highly suggest reading the Obama response to this book. It will clear everything up for you.

Mark matthews-

Get with the times. The whole swift boat thing has had it's doors blown wide open since that election. Virtually everyone that served on kerrys boat has debunked those claims and every single person who said bad things had either very limited contact with Kerry or is politically opposite of him. Again it takes very little research to find the truth about swift boats for truth propaganda. "

" Nobody likes their ox being Gore'd. I personally think this kind of stuff is just preaching to the saved and will have little effect on the eventual outcome, just as Michael Moore's 2004 mockumentary on Bush did little to help Kerry. In fact, some thought it was too far over the top and may have hurt poor ol' Lurch.

Gore and Moore put forth their collections of staged 'facts' and propaganda and were roundly and justifiably attacked for it. Gore says anyone who doesn't believe him is a 'flat earther' and Moore used his website to lauch attacks on those who pointed out his little um, inconsistencies, rather than issue any kind of factual rebuttal. In other words, they want you to just shut up and believe. Do not think about their teachings, just blindly believe. Yep. That's the first sign of someone who wants you to be a non-thinking zombie follower. I am the great and powerful . . .

I have not read this book yet (I plan to) so I won't comment directly about it. It will be interesting to see what shakes out of it, what sticks and what does not. Since I will not vote for Obama under any circumstance (nor will I vote for McCain), it can't change my mind or my vote. I see the book as just a little entertainment to counter an otherwise incredibly disappointing crop of candidates this election year. "

I haven't done my homework yet about the libertarian nominee Bob Barr, so I don't know if I can vote for him with a clear conscience or not. So far, I'm not over impressed. Whatever I do with my vote, in California it won't make much difference. Last I saw St. Obama had a commanding lead. "

We the voter, have done a very poor job of selecting qualified candidates. Obama leans so far left, it's scary (ala Jimmy Carter). However, I think if the average US citizen got a good dose of Obama, they just might ignore the media and start making informed decisions based on voting records. Might husband cast his vote for Jimmy Carter in 1976, then had the honor of serving under him. Guess who he voted for next time around. You got it, Ronny. "

I would like to ask Glenroy and anyone else who feels that drilling is the answer to our prayers, why they weren't out screaming for drilling last year, when gas was a dollar and a half cheaper? All of a sudden we need to drill??? There are leases that are not being drilled...why not? There are no refineries capable of handling any more demand on them. There are no oil rigs and they can't be built in a timely manner. I say let them drill. They won't get it together anyway.
Now...go ahead a blame the Dems...again. Waaah Waaah Waaah. "

" As late as last year oil prices were still in the $60 per barrel range. In 2004 they were still in the $30 range. The total number of oil wells drilled in the late 90's actually FELL by 23%.

America needs to be proactive in oil exploration and production. Misfit is correct that it takes years to bring new fields into production. The time to start is NOW. We can't allow the Dem's to stand in the way, purely for political purposes.

He says "let them drill" but his leader, Nancy Pelosi, won't even let Congress vote on the issue!

" Misfit- you are sounding a little frustrated these days. Is it because after Pres Bush lifted the moratorium on oil drilling, the price of oil dropped from $145 a barrel to around $115.00 per barrel? Thus proving the erroneous dribble that drilling in the US will not affect the price of oil? That's a 20% drop! $4.00 a gallon is good eye opener for all of us. We know that we need a comprehensive energy policy NOW! Not when Congress gets back from vacation, NOW.

BTW, I like Whack a Mole from PPF, kind of lightens things up. A sense of humor can be a little therapeutic if you let it. "
