Ida Van Dyke

NAPA - Ida was born April 23, 1948, at Parks Victory Hospital. She spent most of her life in Napa, graduating from Napa High School in 1966.

She spent many years working with disabled youth at both Napa State Hospital and Sonoma Developmental Center.

While raising her biological son, Ed, Ida welcomed into her home scores of children with special needs.

Ida was overjoyed just a few months ago when she became a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Napa.

She is survived by her children, Ed, Jeff, Kristin, Tyler and Ashley; her daughter-in-law Debbie; her grandchildren Alex and Haley and brother Jim Henson of Texas. In addition, she will forever remain in the hearts of the children she loved (and saved) and then generously shared with others to raise.

Ida gave everything she was and everything she had to the people she loved. Her final gift to family and friends was her humor and warmth throughout the last few years of a devastating illness. We are all richer for having known her.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail, Napa, with Pastor Marvin Wray officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tailored Living Choices, 1830B Soscol Ave., Napa, CA 94559s to benefit her children and others in supported living situations.

Words of sympathy may be sent online to www.rpfsc.com.
