Next generation vintners launch Pedras Wines
Proprietors Cecilia and Wil Harris and winemaker Jamey Whetstone have released their first wine, a 2005 Pedras Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon.
It comes from grapes grown on the Ristow Estate’s Quinta de Pedras Vineyard on the eastern side of the Silverado Trail just south of the Stags Leap District.
They made 500 cases to sell for $60 a bottle.
Cecilia’s mother and stepfather, Urannia and Brunno Ristow, purchased the property in 1983, and planted cabernet sauvignon in 1988, making wine under the Ristow label from 1998 to 2004.
In 1998, Cecilia began working with her parents, taking over sales and marketing.
A few years later, Urannia and Brunno decided to focus on growing grapes, so her daughter and her husband took over the wine.
