A trio of singers, plus top Bay Area instrumentalists entertain modest benefit audience at Lincoln Theater

A trio of singers who laid the groundwork in the Bay Area for their respective careers teamed up for an engaging music-filled fundraiser at Lincoln Theater last Sunday.

Live at the Opera House: the fall season

The stars will be out this fall at the Napa Valley Opera House. Just announced, the fall lineup of entertainers: All-time greats like Jose Feliciano, Taj Mahal and David Grisman and John Sebastian will be on the Opera House stage as well as up-and-coming artists like Spencer Day, who was a hit with Opera House patrons when he opened for Rufus Wainwright last spring, or Dengue Fever, with their genre-defying psychedelic surf punk.

Play in the clay

Nimbus Arts has created  a permanent ceramics studio offering classes for beginners to advanced students. Nimbus Arts is in the St. Helena Marketplace, 3111 St. Helena Highway, Suite 1B, just north of St. Helena.

Lives in the arts

For nearly 80 years, the Napa Valley Opera House sat deserted on Main Street, a decaying reminder of the frontier pride it once represented. Built in 1879, the elegant two-story theater closed its doors in 1914 and remained dark for the rest of the century.

The wild, wild Nest

Napa Nest hosts the Westward Film Fest  Friday, Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. They’ll be showing films curated by filmmaker John Lightfoot that look at life west of the Mississippi. Bring a sleeping bag and can of beans (or other snacks). Suggested donation is $5.

Auditions coming up

Napa Valley College holds auditions for their fall productions Aug. 19 and 20 in the college theaters. Auditions are at 4 p.m. for Linda Daugherty “African Tales of Earth and Sky” and at 7 p.m. for Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House.”
