6:20 p.m.Arcing power lines in a grassy field in Carneros near Las Amigas Road and Duhig Road sparked a 20-acre fire Tuesday evening. Within an hour, Calfire quickly contained the blaze with the help of air support by 6 p.m. Calfire Battalion Chief Dave Shew said winds in the area made the fire burn as big as it did.

" I saw this fire and the aircraft working hard on my way home lastnite. They really do a fabulous job in these parts at keeping these fires at a minimum. *high fives all around*

Keep up the good work guys and gals. "

" Hey Dan....

If you'd like to put your journalism to some real work, you should be able to contact Calfire in Santa Rosa and get permission to go on a fire call in an S-2 retardant bomber, like the one in the picture. A few reporters have done so, even though the paperwork is arduous.

It would be a great personal experience for you, and an article of the experience would enlighten many as to what a hot, miserable, dangerous, and teeth-jarring ride it can be, not to mention the talent that it takes to actually hit the hot spots.

It's not at all like Disneyland. It's the real thing. Reporters are some of the few who can gain access. Go for it... "

Great idea, would add to it if we could get a photographer/videographer to go and really show people what this is like how hard it is.

" J.L. Sousa/Register: That's a great photograph of a retardant run. Passing out a couple of 8 X 10 glossies would definitely get you brownie points with the pilots. They deserve some "atta-boys"...

Sorry psychochic, but I don't know any girlies that do the job locally.... "
