Dear editor,
We are so very thankful to the Napa community for supporting our free glaucoma screenings held Thursday, July 10, at the Eye Works Optometry in downtown Napa. Thanks to the participation of local organizations and residents of Napa, four individuals were diagnosed as “suspicious” and were directed to see their own physician immediately or set a follow-up exam with Dr. Mark Schluter or Dr. Sonja Schluter, a glaucoma specialist.
The free screenings were offered by he Eye Works to draw attention to glaucoma and the devastating impact of the disease. Glaucoma is a silent thief of sight and is a leading cause of blindness. Four million Americans have glaucoma, but only half know they have it.
Our thanks to Clinic Ole, the Napa County Farm Bureau, Michael Abramson of the Napa Sanitation District, Alliance On Aging, Rohlffs Manor, the Lions Club, the Napa Senior Center, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Napa Valley Register, Allergan Pharmaceuticals and Drs. Sonja and Mark Schluter.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Eye Works Optometry and Allergan Pharmaceuticals will participate in Clinic Ole’s Health Event, which will again include free glaucoma screenings.
