Connections

Here in Napa, we don’t always feel connected to the outside world.

Napa Little Leaguers live the diamond dream

It all began in early 2008 when my two grandsons, Will and Kyle Kroplin, attended Little League tryouts at Garfield Park. Coach Harley attended the tryouts and drafted both Will and Kyle to play for Harley’s Waterproofing.

Is there a Bloggermania II in your future?

Seems there's talk a'brewing about Bloggermania II, building on the success of last month's first-ever gathering of those who comment online to Register articles.

Candidates are gonna be blogging here

Finding information about candidates or topics during election time is easier with the Internet available. We are going to use napavalleyregister.com to make this November’s election as easy as possible to learn all you want about each race on your ballot.

Upvalley road warning

Today promises to be an unusual one in Napa County, especially Upvalley. We encourage residents to be prepared for disruptions, sightings of men in black talking into their shoulders, caravans of black SUVs (instead of the usual white limos) celebrity sightings and other odd occurrences linked to President George W. Bush’s visit.

Impeachment proceedings now

Dear editor, While it is true that our United States Senate does not have the Democratic 60 vote majority power, there is no reason why the Democrats cannot stand up and position themselves for defending our United States Constitution. To this end, Democrats and rational Republicans must stand up to executive and judicial “blackmail” and “hold impeachment hearings now!”

Keep horses off Napa streets

Dear editor, Such towns as Paris, France, and London, England, have banned horse-drawn carriages. New York City is considering a ban.

Blessings from Molly

Dear editor, Thank you so much for the article about me (“An angel rests her wings,” July 4). Don always goes on the computer and it was lovely with my photo. We printed some up to send them to England to my family as they have been worried about me being in pain, etc. We were there in April but I was in so much pain we had to leave after one week.

On foreign fighters and Habeas Corpus

Dear editor, This letter is in response to your guest editorial by Dale McFeatters dated June 14 ( “Supreme Court stands up for Habeas Corpus”).

Taking a Break

As was announced in last week’s Register, I have decided - with the support and encouragement of family, friends and community members - to join the race for American Canyon city council this fall.

American Canyon's Urban Limit Line

This week I read the agreement between the county and American Canyon concerning American Canyon’s borders and other related issues. I advise anyone who is going to vote on it in American Canyon, and anyone in the county who is concerned about growth issues to take a close look at it. There are some issues that trouble me about it, and I can certainly say that it is a pro growth document.

What would you ask President Bush?

President George W. Bush is due in Napa Thursday afternoon for a private function, and perhaps a public appearance as well.
