Roving DUI patrol set

Napa Police are doing their part this Friday to get drunk drivers off the road. They will be conducting DUI saturation patrols within the city limits.

The patrols will be in areas where there has been a high number of traffic crashes and arrests involving drunk drivers.
Officers are attempting to cut down on collisions involving DUI drivers. Police suggest those who have been drinking and believe they need to get behind the wheel of a car to call a cab, a friend, take the bus or even walk.

The funding for the DUI saturation patrols comes from a grant received from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

" Police suggest those who have been drinking to walk. Yes walking is better but the police will bring you into jail for drunk in public if you are too intoxicated. Either way driving drunk or walking home drunk you will end up behind bars. "

" is saturation partol like a checkpoint? Or are they just adding more officers to the streets to specifically look for DUI's? I've never heard this term before...
Whatever they're doing is a great thing if it will help keep drunks off the road. "

" Napan79: I sure hope you weren't serious about your comment. I'd be very sad if you were! If so, you REALLY missed the point. When drunks drive, they could kill your spouse, child, parent or sibling. If they walk, the worst they can do is kill themselves or end up behind bars where they belong!

I like having the DUI report. Unfortunately, I've seen names of people I know! Keep up the good work Napa PD and the Register! "

" DUI check points are a good thing...too bad the Police are unable to set up some type of vandalism check point.
A check point outside of Kennedy park on any given Sunday should net some arrests too. "
