Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was scheduled to attend a fundraiser Wednesday in Oakville for the campaign to pass Prop. 11, the measure to change the way legislative district boundaries are drawn in California, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.

The event was scheduled at Swanson Vineyards, Schwarzenegger spokeswoman Julie Soderlund said. The time was not disclosed.
Prop. 11, if approved in November, would put in place an independent commission to draw district boundaries, Soderlund said.

“Redistricting reform is something the Governor believes is an essential part of making Sacramento more accountable to addressing the issues Californians care about most — fixing our dysfunctional budget system, improving our water infrastructure, reforming our broken healthcare system, and improving our education system,” Soderlund said in an e-mail.
The private event is closed to the press, she said.

The California Voters FIRST Committee, established to support the passage of Prop. 11, is putting on the event. California Common Cause, AARP and the League of California Voters back Prop.11.
Late Wednesday afternoon, the governor’s staff had yet to arrive to the winery on Manley Lane north of the Robert Mondavi Winery.

President Bush will also visit the Napa Valley for a fundraiser Thursday. Bush will attend a Republican National Committee reception after visiting the wildfire damage in Redding, according to the White House schedule and GOP.
