President George W. Bush’s scheduled Napa County fundraiser has raised roughly $850,000 for the Republican National Committee, according to a source involved with the event.

The fundraiser will take place Upvalley during the late afternoon or early evening Thursday, the source said. An estimated 112 unnamed guests will attend.
White House officials said the fundraiser will be held at a private residence.

" the guests are anonymous because nobody wants to admit to attending a Bush fundraiser. "

" 850,000 thats it?? Wouldn't the security detail, services, and travel expenses(plane, helo) around that much? I would think so. I would like to shake President Bush's hand as I would like to shake O.J. Simpson's hand. I'm joking "

" Of course $850,000 is not enough to cover all the expenses. But the expenses are paid for by the taxpayers, while the money raised can go staright to the Republican party. "

" Do you democrats remember how much your dear billy clinton cost us taxpayers for fighting inflation with monica lewinsky? "

" DB…don’t fool yourself I and many others wouldn’t mind a bit if our names were disclosed…the President’s security probably doesn’t want another deranged Democrat like Booth obtaining security clearance as a phony Republican or, as many Republican fundraisers are an Independent…. "

" napawineo: what are you talking about. I wouldn't care one bit if his motorcade was hit by an unlicensed and illegal driver.

And the monica lewinsky thing didn't cost the taxpayers a penny until Ken Starr spent millions of dollars investigating it. "

" Jeez guys, get over the Lewinsky thing will ya? Trivia in real terms, some of the finest people have been tripped up by their er d---s. Unfortuantely, some boys will be boys one way or another. Dishonest, yes but harming whom? Do you think Karl Rove et al are honest? Do you? "

" If monica had gotten that dress drycleaned, we wouldn't even be discussing this right now. "

OK, so lets ask all the posters here, if it was your spouse, would it be OK? - just a little fun? Since you ask us Suze, how about Spitzer? Or Craig? More cases of naughty boys and not a deep character issue? Was Chappaquiddick merely unfortunate?

As far as potential harm, how about blackmail, the tangled web of deceits piled upon lies greased by money that regularly accompany the inevitable threats of exposure?

Sheesh, the free passes we issue to rationalize our intractable positions know no limit do they? "
