12:15 p.m.White House officials announced Wednesday that President George W. Bush will spend about three hours in Napa County early Thursday night for a private fundraiser for the Republican National Committee.

According to the White House, the President will arrive in Redding early Thursday afternoon on Air Force One, where he will receive a briefing and aerial tour of the California Wildfires. He is scheduled to make a statement on the fires in Redding to the press before departing later that afternoon for Travis Air Force Base on Air Force One.
The President is scheduled to arrive at Travis Air Force Base late afternoon, at which point he will travel to Napa County for a fundraiser dinner for the Republican National Committee, the White House said.

The location of the fundraiser is undisclosed, but White House officials have said the event will be at a private residence in Napa County. An itinerary from the White House lists the location as Napa, but other sources close to the fundraiser say the event will take place Upvalley.
Bush is scheduled for about a three-hour visit to Napa County, according to the itinerary.

The itinerary does not list any public appearances in Napa.
After the fundraiser Thursday night, Bush departs from Travis Air Force Base in Air Force One to Tucson, Ariz., the White House said.

" bcra --

If I remember right, presidents have flown into Angwin airport before on visits to Napa. That always struck me as odd, considering how remote it is. "

" Might you democrats give the President a break? After all, he's not LBJ who killed 58,000 American men.

If you are obsessed with placing blame on the economy, take a look at the environmentists PG&E and your democrat party. Delusions can only go so far before they become patholigical. "

" hmmm....and Nixon bears none of the responsibility for part of those 58,000 for continuing the war 4 years after LBJ?..or Kennedy?...or Eisenhower?....If we are parceling out blame for that mess lets make sure all get their share of the credit. "

" Give the president a break? After he went back on his 1999 campaign "non-nation building" stance? After he grew the size of the government beyond any real republican's worst nightmare? After leaving a number of American cities to remain stagnant and unrepaired years after Katrina? How can we give him a break when his incompetence is so staggering that it would probably be considered criminal? "

" Non-nation Building? Pre-9/11 thinking. Simply put, we need US presence in the middle east beyong Israel. We should have permanent base presence in Iraq to help ensure our interests in the region. THAT should be our pay-off for the price of our involvment in Iraq. Never forget the Saudis are not our friends.

Size of Gov't? Absolutely spot-on. Criminal is an apt description for this one. "

Katrina? Anyone find it unusual that the recent catastrophic mid-west flooding didn't elicit the hand-wringing Sturm and Drang that Katrina did? Could it be that THOSE areas had solid local leadership and planning which made a difference? Could it be that the people and elected officials placed more emphasis on personal responsibility than victimization? Could it also be that the cities you reference were impossibly stagnant and un-repaired prior to the hurricane? In this instance the "staggering incompetence" was and continues to be mainly local in origin. "

" hey...in a town that spends so much money on poorly constructed roads as well as inconcievably stupid projects for traffic, shoulldnt this corrupt town focus on itself. Bush was voted into office by the same morons who critique him. He's not a great president, but hell... wait til reality hits us when you pacifists vote in a real disaster in november. Napa ,stick to wine not whines. "

moral inconceivability is a topic best discussed while in line at a 70's style diner to a bum with a pocket knife, or over a lobster dinner with a girl carrying $300,000 of dirty money in her pocket. even the secret service has to think twice these days about who to believe. do they believe the guy on the corner, the guy drinking a dirty martini, or the ceo? the politician might try to shed some light but usually what they shed are a couple kilo's of cocaine.
