Sidekicks going to Junior Olympics July 18-19

American Legion Baseball: Napa sweeps Petaluma

Napa American Legion completed a three-game sweep Saturday of Petaluma, coming from behind for a 13-10 win at the Veterans Home of California's Cleve Borman Field in Yountville and securing the No. 1 seed for next week's District 5 Tournament. Napa (27-13-1 overall, 13-1-1 District 5) begins the double-elimination tournament at Laurel Creek Park in Fairfield Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Napa Valley Girls Fastpitch Softball: Bicycle Works 5, Fazerrati's Pizza 2

Winning pitcher Luie Knudson went 3-for-4 at the plate in Friday's later Senior Division game. Amanda Garcia (3-for-3, two RBIs) and Chloe James (2-for-2) also shined at the plate. For Fazerrati's, Cyndle Henri was 2-for-3 and Michelle Blair 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Napa Valley Girls Fastpitch Softball: Branagan Insurance 3, Silverado Vet 2

Alexis Woodruff was the winning pitcher in Friday night's earlier Senior Division game at Napa Kiwanis Park. Leading Branagan at the plate were Kaleigh Marshall (1-for-3, RBI), Sam Sciutto (1-for-3, double) and Page Marco (1-for-2). For Silverado Vet, Whitney Pridmore was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Kayla Reichert was also 2-for-3.

Napa Track Club trio qualify for Junior Olympics

The Napa Track Club advanced three athletes to the Junior Olympics on Saturday, the first day of the Region 14 Championships at Granada High School in Livermore.
