With gas prices escalating into the $5 a gallon range, many locals are electing to remain closer to home and take a “Staycation" instead of a vacation farther away.

Are you taking a Staycation this summer?
If so, Register reporter Jennifer Huffman would like to hear about your plans.

" Boating on the Napa River, fishing with my kids, and barbecue with friends -- that's our summer staycation. "

" We had our "staycation" last week. Went to the park every day, walked the dog, went to the movies, a Giants game, BBQs, swimming, saw friends, stayed up late, read lots of books from the library (free! just the gas to get there!). Overall, quiet, cheap and...boring.... "

" I'm taking a week long roadtrip down to Tucson with my best friend next month. So, nope, no staycation here !! "

" Despite $5+ at the fuel dock I'll be using my boat this Summer. Thankfully you don't have to spend too much gas to get to a nice quiet place on the Napa River for sun bathing, fishing or just chilling out the rest of the weekend. No campsite dues or tolls either! "

" I've been using this lack of money for the horrendous gas prices as a way to reconnect with family and friends. I go to my aunt's and swin in the pool or go hang with a friend for the day. That's what my staycations consist of this year.
I wish I could travel this summer but it's just can't afford the gas. "

" were showing a movie in Napa Junction for children in the area. It's at the Main street Park, I encourage many folks to purchase the screen we got. It is so worth the dollars and to use our community park, its wonderful. Were shooting for every Friday Nights.

Transformers! July 11th, Friday night at 9pm
lots of popcorn and walk right over to get dinner before movie at our lovely choices of restaurants. thanks to businesses for dollars to get our screen. A benefit of living in a mixed use. "
