Vintage High cross country meeting scheduled Thursday

The Vintage High School cross country program will hold a preseason meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The meeting will be to discuss summer training and group runs, the upcoming meet schedule and elegibility paperwork.

Napa Valley Raiders Boosters meet July 14

The Napa Valley Raiders Boosters are accepting membership for the upcoming season. The club helps support the community and tailgates at all of the Raiders’ games. The $45 membership cost comes with a shirt and tailgate pass.
The club’s next monthly meeting is July 14.

Napa Valley College Soccer Camp July 14-17

The English Pro Soccer Camp has been replaced by the Napa Valley College Soccer Camp, scheduled for July 14-17. Both half- and full-day options are available. The maximum player to coach ratio is 10 to 1. Camp director Les Carroll is a qualified soccer coach from England. He has played and coached at the semi-professional level in both England and the U.S. Carroll is also the head men’s soccer coach at Napa Valley College.

The camp caters to male and female players of all ability levels and age groups. The emphasis of the camp is focused on learning the basics of soccer and how to apply these skills in fun, small-sides games. Individuals are grouped according to skill level, ability and physical capabilities.

There is a camp July 14-17 for players ages 5 to 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $105.

There is a 10 percent sibling discount and 20 percent discount for teams of five or more players.

This camp employs highly qualified and experienced players and coaches. The camp is educational and challenging. The full-day session includes swimming.

Justin-Siena tackle football camp starts July 14

Justin-Siena High School is now taking sign ups for the second annual NFL-Junior Player Development Football Camp. The camp is for 11-14 year old boys and runs from July 14-19. Last year, 150 football players from Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties participated in this full-contact camp. Campers varied from experienced tackle football players to youths who were suiting up for the first time.

The camp runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The school co-hosts this camp in cooperation with the National Football League. This camp is free, but you must register to attend due to limited space. The NFL provides all the equipment free of charge. Groups are divided by weight into three groups (small, medium, large) and will work with the Justin-Siena football coaching staff for the week on the fundamentals needed to be successful in football.

All players also receive free gifts during the week and an important life lesson is taught as the theme of the day.

Justin-Siena volleyball camp starts July 21

A volleyball camp for girls in grades 6 to 12 is offered by Justin-Siena High School and runs July 21-24, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Clark Gym. Braves coach Kelly Porter and a group of college, high school and club coaches will instruct in this one-week camp to help you become a better volleyball player. The focus is to keep the camp small in order to allow more individual instruction. The cost is $130. There is an additional $35 administrative registration fee.

NHS holding non-contact youth football camp July 28-Aug. 1

The 2007 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I champions will host a non-contact youth football camp for student-athletes from July 28-Aug. 1.

On Aug. 1, the campers will play football at Memorial Stadium followed by a BBQ. 

In addition to daily skill instruction in every football position, the camp will include a 7-on-7 passing tournament directed by the Indians’ football coaching staff. Any student-athlete entering fifth-eight grade may participate in this week-long, non-contact camp.

Napa will host the camp at its practice field, west of the weight room. The camp begins at 7:30 a.m. each morning and ends at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $195 per camper. Justin-Siena water polo camp set Aug. 11-15

The Justin-Siena water polo camp is open to boys and girls 8 to 18 years of age and will be held at Napa Valley College from Aug. 11 to 15, from 8 to 11 a.m. each day. It’s an introduction to water polo, for beginners, with individual and team strategy development for advanced players to be taught.

Instruction will include rules of the game, referee signals, eggbeater kick, individual ball handling skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, and drawing fouls), individual offensive and defensive game concepts and team strategies will be taught to all participants. Advanced instruction and conditioning will be offered to high school participants.

Camp staff will include Justin-Siena head aquatics coach Tom Coughlan as well as other highly qualified coaches in the area, former All-Americans and national team players.
