Napa Legion team wins big
The Napa American Legion baseball team outlasted host Reno 19-11 in a wild game on Wednesday.
“(Wednesday night’s) game was a great way to start the Fourth of July trip,” said Napa manager Billy Smith, whose team is competing in the Reno Tournament through Sunday.
Ryan Kostecka paced Napa’s amazing day at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three home runs and six RBIs.
Daniel Pardini went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Bud Accardo (1-for-3) and Taka Masuda (1-for-1) each added a three-run homer.
In all, Napa slugged five home runs while Reno hit four.
Smith said the right-field fence was 291 feet away and 340 feet in the gaps.
C.J. Blom went the first two innings on the mound for Napa (18-8-1, 9-1-1), while Jordan Long, T.J. Marquez, Matt Bejar, Dan Castillo and Nate Azevedo threw one inning apiece.
Napa was scheduled to play a doubleheader Thursday against North Humboldt and Milbrae.
Results were not available at press time.
