It's time to impeach

Dear editor, The 35 articles of impeachment of George W. Bush, which were read into the Congressional Record by Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, are arguably the most important material you will read in your lifetime.

They clearly lay out proof of the commission of "high crimes and misdemeanors" which, under the United States Constitution, mandate impeachment. This is not a choice that Nancy Pelosi gets to make. To impeach or not to impeach is not the question. With the evidence read into the record, impeachment is now mandatory. Any congressperson who does not push for impeachment at this point is in violation of the Constitution and is an accessory to war crimes and should be tried as such. Go to the site, print out the articles, read and reread. Then let your Congress know that you are "mad as hell" and you aren't going to take this anymore. The only choice is impeach or get out of the people's house. Impeach or be tried as an accessory to war crimes.
http://chun.afterdowningstreet.org/amomentoftruth.pdf. Nancy Pelosi at (415) 556-4862 or (202) 225-4965. Mike Thompson at 226-9898 or (202) 225-3311. John Conyers at (202) 225-5126.

Does this mean that if we impeach President Bush we could get rid of the some congress people too?

This could be entertaining. "

" There is a lot of evidence with which to conclude that President George Bush Vice President Cheney are guilty of numerous high crimes and misdemeanors. Impeachment in the House of Representatives would not guarantee that they would be removed from public office; however, the subsequent trials held in the Senate would offer Americans an opportunity to learn more about how Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney have behaved while in charge of the government's executive branch. Resolutions for impeachment that have already been offered in the House of Representatives are worthy of support. "

Norma, you should be thankful we are killing terrorists in Iraq & Afganistan instead of them killing us here.

Hey Skip, what should we do with Kucinich? "

I say Impeach congress....they have been particularly idle these last 8 years....too much sitting on their hands, and complaining. What do you think Norma? "

Asked her to explain the hundreds of millions of tax dollars directed towards a company her son manages…ask about 30 million dollar condos …..

While you have Nancy on the phone remind her of ‘The Democrat Common sense approach to lowering fuel costs’…they’ll be up 300% by this August less than 2 years after she implemented her plan to reduce our cost at the pump.

You folks voted these public troth thieves into office now enjoy the fruits of your desires along with the $7.00 gallon gas around the corner… "

" The fact that Kucinich is the one pushing this should tell you something. When he was running as a presidential candidate, what did he get, about 3% of the vote? He is so far out in kookoo land that hardly anyone pays attention to him. It is a shame that Congress can't accomplish something positive instead of wasting time on hounding a president who is on his way out the door anyway. "

" " Jonathon Turley is a constitutional law professor who testified that Clinton should be impeached. Here is his take on Bush impeachment. So if this man whose job is to know the constitution mentions the words "clear Presidential crimes" is he just full of it now but wasn't when it came to Clinton being impeached?

Olbermann: “I’ve often argued here, that even if you don’t think the words aren’t lead to any actions, say the words anyway, simply to get them on the record for history and simply because, nothing has ever changed from bad to good in this country without somebody first saying, this is bad. Assess the importance of what Dennis Kucinich did last night.”

Turley: “You know, it is very important. The fact is, that this is not supposed to happen the way it’s happened in the last seven years. The framers, I think, would have been astonished by the absolute passivity, if not the collusion of the Democrats in protecting President Bush from impeachment. I mean, they created a system that was essentially idiot-proof, and God knows we’ve put that to the test in the past few years, but I don’t think they anticipated that so many members of the opposition would stand quietly in the face of clear presidential crimes.” " "

" First off, FunnyMe please don't give Bush the credit for the Supreme Court's decision. The people who is nominations replaced could well have voted with the majority.

Secondly, please give it up on impeachment, it's not happening. The Democratic leadership has long since decided that impeaching Bush would make them look bad and probably not work.

My favorite line in this letter is: "Then let your Congress know that you are "mad as hell" and you aren't going to take this anymore" Like Mike Thompson gives a $@%#!, what anyone thinks.

This Administration has nothing but contempt for the Congress (that includes members of their party). All the proof you need is in yesterday's testimony by Addington and Yoo. It's really hard to blame them. The Republicans gave Bush whatever he wanted and the Democrats have failed to be an opposition party. "

" The real tragedy here is that no matter what evidence anyone has to impeach members of The Powers That Be, there are more of the same politicians, lots and lots more, to replace the ones that you run out on a rail.

Every politician has an agenda, they want things their own way. Some politicians are willing to do extreme things to complete their agenda. Running the government of the United States isn't easy, by any means.

Ship out Bush, Cheney, and whomever else you think is guilty. First thing in the morning, there will be another set of politicians working out another agenda. The only thing impeachment will get us is a different set of secret handshakes. "

Raven wrote on Jun 27, 2008 7:22 PM:

" So...how long will it take for people to realize that the votes are simply not there....you don't have enough in the House to make the charges, and definitely not enough in the Senate to convict. To spend the remaining months of "Shrub's" term on trying to impeach either him or Cheney is simply a waste of time and money.
As for the members of congress, you already have a tool in November you can use if you don't like the way he or she is performing...vote in someone else. "

MarshMarsha- Obviously you were against the impeachment of Clinton, right? Your words seem to say that.

I hope some of you know that you can be a good republican and not support Bush at the same time. As a registered member of the Democratic party I often get peeved at the Democrats in Congress. I certainly don't support the likes of Sharpton who more often than not disgusts me. The only "teams" I unconditionally support are the Giants, 49ers, and Sharks. Politics shouldn't be played the same way. If one of you regular Repubs in here didn't support Bush I promise I wouldn't think any MORE of you. "

My point is simply that somewhere, there's a politician factory pumping them out at alarming rates. If you impeach someone then it's a roll-of-the-dice what you'll get next time. "

Lying may be too strong of language, but Obama is definitely the candidate of CHANGE; he changed his position on public campaign financing, on government funding of faith based social programs, on late term abortions, on the Second Amendment, on immediately removing the troops from Iraq and now the lastest "change", he voted "aye" on retroactive immunity for the telecom companies involved with the Foreign Surviellance Act.

I know he is "running for the middle" now that the primaries are over. That's what politicians do in election years (except McCain) but it does tend to tarnish his halo a little and it distracts from his "messiah" image of being a "different" type of candidate. It remains to be seen if this tactic affects his poll numbers with his base of new voters who are supposedly motivated by his being "different". He wouldn't have done it if his polling data said it wouldn't play well.... "
