7 p.m.5:15 p.m.:
Tonight is Bloggermania 1, well, it actually starts in a few minutes.
For those of you who cannot attend the first-ever gathering of those who make a lot of the story comments on this Web site, we decided to add some thoughts for you as the event goes along.
So check back throughout the evening, and later on, to see what people had to say, and who showed up!
Instead of posting in the story comments section, the participants are going to add their thoughts straight in to this blog.
5:30 p.m.:
About a half-dozen have shown up, so we are going to kick-start things here in a few minutes
5:50 p.m.
the 15 or so are getting a chance to talk about issues and grill the Register staff of two about a variety of things.
6:30 p.m.
As the night wraps up, a few of the bloggers wanted to take time to say what they think of how things went, so here they go...
Napablogger: Well, my head hasn't gotten ripped off, completely at least..:)
big changes coming to the Register blog soon, pretty excited, its fun to be here with the true believers, makes you realize how important it is to talk to people who you don't necessarily agree with, you learn a lot which is one of the things that is coming out of this meeting.
Skip M. Hey Sammy, Where are you???????? It's a great crowd here. Glad I made it, al be it late.
Freeport56-
Thanks for the great format and the future opportunity to further our expression about Napa and whatever. Thanks Dan\Kevin
napabrat:
Well the bloodshed was minimal. It was actually nice to put faces with the screen names. I really don't quite understand why a few people wanted to remain anonymous, but hey - to each there own. You missed out! :-)
This was fun. Where is PinkFlamingo! a teacher.
tovagliolo: a good event to bring together people, to learn where the future of the napa online community is going. thank you dan for this wonderful opportunity!
Dan: Those of you who did not come missed out on the group heading off to the JV Wine and Spirits booth at Chefs Market for that free glass of wine they offered to the Bloggermania attendees.
Thanks to everyone, we are shutting down for the night, see you soon
--Dan

..Did SkipM really figure who ADark1 is w /out any help?
Was napabrat really all that bratty?
Is it true that tovagliolo, is a Wallflower?
Will napablogger finally come clean on napablogger's master plan?
Is Dan REALLY worried now he knows, people in Illinois and Iowa are STILL partying because ADARK1 now lives in Napa?
What's the buzz about how "cute" Matt@Newspeak is even tho he lives in AC?
Is it true the Great PINK One is missing in action.?
Will Skip M, Kevin and ADark1 really get along?
Will Steph finally get off THAT fence with her hubby's urging?
Is it true PernodBoi gave ADark1 lessons on the proper way to fingersnap?
Where is Freeport56 REALLY from..and what did he mean by "You're pretty tough!
Is it true, Dan knows, ADark1, comes from the hometown of the Register Corporate Office, ( which is under water ...well almost)he did a check and slammed the laptop cover down?
How does MarshaMarsha Look in Drag? and are labor day fashions over?
Is it true MOST posters stayed with their backs against the wall and why?
Who were the winos spotted at the JV Booth?
China says ....SNARF! What did SkipM do?
Did a staffer ask certain bodies,
"Are those really all of your kids?"
Are Dan and Brian REALLY that crazy?
Stay tuned for this and other questions that will NEVER be answered! You shoulda been there!
Was great time meeting those of you who made it..I've got plenty of ammo for the NEXT Bloggermania Awards tho! "

you just crack me up. I tell ya when the hometown post a restraining order...its tough to stick around. Thank you all so much for the cerebral intoxication....I love it. sandra should have been there with us. Probably in her jammies. "

The biggest surprise was ADark1 showing a phonto (that's a cell phone pic) of China, proving that they were twins seperated at birth and reunited later in life. "

Adark1, you make me laugh! You're sitting at my table next time this is put together ok! Same with plasticflamingo and teacher.
I really wanted to talk to Skip M about the real estate market up where he lives. My twenty something son is thinking about buying property in Antelope. Is this an ok area? There are so many pockets of good and bad areas combined together in Sacramento. I cannot tell where the good neighborhoods are located!
Oh, Steph, you stay on that fence, just don't fall down. Anyone who sits on a fence is balanced!
LMW, you must have been in a panic. What a day. "

When I came in I noticed this odor. I couldn't quite place it. About half way through I figured it out. We have a new kitten. The darned thing had peed on my tee shirt... I had to get out and change it.
Next time I'll go for that glass of red... "
vocal-de-local wrote on Jun 20, 2008 3:10 PM:
Please come and hang out the next time this function is put together, though. You're obviously an interesting person regardless. And Dan, I would like to help organize the next event if that's ok. Can I help?
Skip, I like Roseville a lot. We have driven around there. It's a nice community with lots of recreation. But my son works in Natomas. I don't want him buying anything in Natomas because of flooding though. But Hwy 80 between Roseville and Natomas can be a nightmare commute. Our goal is to get him out of the flood plain and still not too far from Natomas. He works in the computer tech field and he may end out in the Roseville area eventually because more and more tech jobs are locating there.
I wonder, is the east or west side of Hwy 80 in Roseville a better area? You can email me at doreitsme@sbcglobal.net. I don't use this email often so it may take awhile for me to get to it. But I'll check it within the week. Thank you Skip! "

I would love too, But you know what happens when a group of young people get together and have fun in Napa, dont you?
It gets shut down...lol. For no good reason.
I dont think Napa can stand the idea of young ones having a good time. "

I know where the Galleria Shopping Mall is located. Indeed, it's a nice area. We've been keeping an eye on foreclosures in the area for hopes of a good deal. At this point he wants to become really familiar with the market, wait a year, then make a move. But yes, Roseville is probably the best investment in the area. Thanks for the feedback! "
vocal-de-local wrote on Jun 21, 2008 2:02 PM:
My son also complains about how there is nothing for people his age to do in this county. Well, complaining isn't going to make anything happen because no one can read your minds. Find a venue, like NVR online and encourage some of those who agree with your perspective to offer their opinions here. If you want young people to count, you need to make yourselves visible just like anyone else who gains political clout! You're lucky that you have a place where it's easy to be visible. In my day, online didn't exist and young people were limited in the ways in which they could exert their influence. "
vocal-de-local wrote on Jun 21, 2008 2:25 PM:
As far as location goes, we could make arrangements with a wine bar, a restaurant who would allow us the use of their outdoor space, or a place at the Chefs Market I suppose. A wine bar might be difficult if we want younger people to attend, though.
As far as time goes, I think we should arrange a gathering at the end of summer, before the season changes, maybe a Harvest Bloggermania or a Octoberfest Bloggermania? It's doubtful anyone will want to attend once bad weather settles in.
One thing about blogger/posters which should be considered, I think they are a group of fairly independent minded, opinionated individuals who share a common stubborn streak! They want ownership of their experiences. If they are allowed input, they will come.
Bloggermania has a real potential of becoming a community within a community. We can disagree, but at the end of the day, we can agree to disagree and still like each other, I hope! "
Dan Ross wrote on Jun 21, 2008 4:26 PM:
well, it sounds like this could be a good place to help generate ideas, ways and places for a younger crowd to enjoy Napa.
If you'd been here Thursday night, you'd have seen the new toy, the new setup so people could initiate their own forums, their own ways to initiate ideas and conversations without having to wait for a story or reader forum set up by me for the ideas to get flowing.
This is coming soon, the group here Thursday is going to be part of getting it started.
Want to be part too? "
Skip M. wrote on Jun 21, 2008 9:42 PM:
NVCHell: Most of us, particularly those of us who grew up in Napa completely understand your concern about this community having a less than welcoming attitude toward it’s young people. You have more allies in this forum that you might think. Absolutely come to the next gathering and bring your friends.
At the risk of going religious, a minister friend of mine once told me that you can tell the health of a church by the number of young people in it. If the congregation is full of geriatrics, the church is in real trouble. It is the same for a community. If we do not include the views and perspectives of our young people in the debate or discussion, the community is doomed. "

*I can hear the crowds chanting now...PPF! PPF! PPF! PPF!.......... It would be interesting to see how the Pink One gave a lesson on handcuffing though! :) "

plasticpinkflamingo wrote on Jun 24, 2008 3:05 PM:
handcuffs are easy - the flamingo holds the perp by the . . . well let's say a very tender area with our long angled beak, and the perp puts the handcuffs on himself. Gladly.
I'm just trying to figure out how to pin on the badge - how do the dogs wear their badges? Hey Ringo, you out there?
BTW, have you given China her smoochies for today? See "Smooches for Pooches" in the Real Napa section. She may be so happy she will forget to snarf on you. Ewwww dog snarf! "
plasticpinkflamingo wrote on Jun 24, 2008 3:08 PM:
But I do like the pothole idea. What about a Blogger's Pothole, filled with our rejected/removed posts? We could fill up a lot of potholes real quick. "

OGreatPinkOne-
You dressed up as a Secret Service Agent could be funny. Do flamingos have ears?
BTW Does anyone seriously know what I could wear? (Not that you couldn't tell who I am right away anyways. I'm probably around 6 inches shorter than all of you anyways), but seriously, any ideas? "
