Last week the Register selected David Ryan as its new city editor, but that doesn’t mean that David, a veteran Register reporter, will edit the city.

The first thing that stands out is having to wait until June 27 for all the ballots to be counted. It appears that it will only matter in one race, Supervisor for District 2 where Mike Rodriques fell only 54 votes short of second place. But that is an awfully long time to wait for 4000 or so votes that can be counted by machine. What gives there? Why make the candidates wait that long to start to prepare for what could be a hard fought race?
