Countdown at Oxbow Market

Both Kanaloa Seafood will open today and Ritual Coffee Roasters is expected to open at the Oxbow Public Market later this week.
An Asian dumpling vendor is also negotiating to open a small restaurant there, too.

And, the produce market moves inside when it’s too hot outside.
The market also has a locals’ night Tuesday with music on the deck. Look for music on Sundays, too.

Chefs Market starts tomorrow
The new Chefs’ Market starts Thursday night in downtown Napa with more emphasis on chefs, including cooking demonstrations by Greg Cole and Joe Salerno, who will be introduced by Anne Baker.

There’s also food, wine, produce and music to enjoy.

    

Ubuntu closed for weekday lunch

Ubuntu is temporarily closed for weekday lunch during May; it will return to serving lunch and dinner seven days a week next month.

It’s renovating its kitchen and front line due to growth.

    

Epiphany yoga center to open in St. Helena

Epiphany Yoga Center will open June 14 in the former Women‘s Center at 1299 Pine St. in downtown St. Helena.

The owners are St. Helena residents Carolyn and Perry Butler, who also own Juslyn Vineyards and Foot Candy, and Jodi and Michael Earls.

Jodi Earls, who is a certified Anusara yoga instructor, will be general manager.

Acme Fine Wines opens new store

Acme Fine Wines has moved to a new space at 1080 Fulton Lane in St. Helena.

The new facility offers wine storage lockers, wine flights and wines by the glass, a showroom and lounge open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, private tasting room for clients by appointment and wine clubs.

New editor at Vineyard & Winery Management

Tina Caputo is the new editor-in-chief of the trade magazine Vineyard & Winery Management.

She was most recently managing editor of Wines & Vines magazine.

Caputo replaces Graham Parnell, the managing editor of Vineyard & Winery Management since 1998.

The Napa Sustainable Winegrowing Group will hold a seminar tomorrow at the River Ranch Farmworker Housing Center in St. Helena from 9 a.m. to noon.

The California Olive Oil Council is hosting a seminar on sensory assessment of olive oil Friday at Copia from 1-5:30 p.m. It will be presented by Juan Ramon Izquierdo from Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, one of the world's leading sensory and technical olive oil experts.

Wineries celebrate solstice with Solarbration

ZD Wines, Honig Vineyard & Winery and Peju Province Winery will celebrate the first  Solarbration on summer solstice, June 21.

According to Sunlight Electric, Napa County wineries have adopted solar energy 42 times faster than California businesses overall.

Wine honoring Brother Timothy

The second wine honoring the late long-time winemaker Brother Timothy is now on sale.

The 2005 Brother Timothy Mont La Salle Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is made from grapes grown on Mount Veeder where Brother Timothy worked as cellar master for 50 years.

It benefits the Lasallian Education Fund.

This wine was made by Dave Guffy, winemaker for the Hess Collection.
