Napa River Promenade open weekends
By KEVIN COURTNEY
Register Staff Writer
12:30 p.m.The full length of the Napa River promenade is now open Friday evenings and weekends, the city of Napa announced.
At other times, segments at Napa Mill and north of Third Street will be open, but pedestrians will not be able to walk adjacent to the construction site for The Riverfront, a mixed-use project south of Third.
When crane work at The Riverfront is finished in two months, the complete promenade will be open daily.
The promenade, a downtown feature provided by the flood control project, runs nearly a third of a mile from Napa Mill past Veteran’s Memorial Park to almost First Street.
City police have begun foot patrols along the promenade and elsewhere in downtown, said Barry Martin, the city’s public outreach coordinator.
The promenade will be fully open from 5 to 11 p.m. Fridays and on Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
When the river project is finished, the river trail will run six miles from Kennedy Park to the future Trancas Crossing Park to the north.

For $25 million the flood project should have given Napans & tourists more! Shame on Napans for not standing up and demanding that those dollars be stretched further! And shame on the flood project for not fully delievering! "

I love the park - and the promenade is fantastic!
Being raised on Skaggs Island and then Suisun, the veiw of the mud reminds me of my childhood. I did read somewhere that they are planning to plant mature grasses very soon. "
