Alcohol stymies car theft
A Yountville man ran into trouble early Wednesday morning after Sheriff’s deputies found him intoxicated following a nearby car burglary. Justin Michael Mendoza, 27, was arrested shortly after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday after a 1999 Lexus was burglarized near Starkey Avenue in Yountville, said Napa County Sheriff’s Lt. Tracey Stuart. Mendoza reportedly had items recently taken from the unlocked car, including sunglasses, money, a portable GPS unit and the vehicle’s registration, Stuart said. Mendoza was booked at the county jail on suspicion of grand theft and drunk in public. The missing items were returned to their owner.
