3:30 p.m.A local man was arrested Tuesday after an accidental delivery of one pound of marijuana and about $25,000 in cash to a St. Helena business, according to police.

Napan Donald Ray Garrett, who makes regular food deliveries to local businesses, was arrested after one of his deliveries to a St. Helena business reportedly contained marijuana and cash, police said.
Garrett, 40, of Napa, was stopped Tuesday afternoon by St. Helena police and Napa Special Investigations Bureau agents after he returned to the St. Helena business to recover the marijuana and cash, police said.

A search of Garrett’s car turned up thousands more in cash, “a moderate amount of concentrated cannabis,” and “a locked box that contained a handgun and loaded magazines,” according to St. Helena Police Sgt. Matt Talbott.
Napa Special Investigations Bureau agents later served a search warrant at Garrett’s home, where about six more pounds of marijuana were reportedly recovered, police said.

Garrett was booked on suspicion of “possession of marijuana for sale, possession of concentrated cannabis and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony,” Talbott said.

" Wrong delivery, packing lists are helpful or don't pack in the same boxes. Maybe it should of been delivered to the Clinic Cannabis on Main St. "

" I'm really torn with this moral dillema. Who's more stupid? The guy for delivering the package, or the business for not taking a "what package?" attitude and keeping the 25K of drug money? They could have called the cops about the pound of weed, the guy would have said "where's my 25K?", and the cops would have laughed. Yeah yeah, it was the right thing to do, big drugs and a dealer off the street and all, but do you know what happens to that cash now? The county will file a "forfeiture/seizure" case and the court will award it to the police dept. It'll buy a couple more radar guns and a new set of tires for all the patrol cars. Big deal. I think that any forfeiture/seizure cash from illegal activity should go to the Boys And Girls Club, Clinic Ole', or maybe someone could revive the DARE program. Someday Mr. Garrett would be proud that his money went to help the community. "

" Steph, nice. Have you ever smoked ??

Just because one person goes dumb and is obviously into it big doesnt make all people that smoke dumb.

Would you say that to a cancer patient that smokes to relieve the pain or to give them an appetite ??

"

" The article says Mr. Garrett makes regular food deliveries...I'd like to know who he work for! I'll order! How stupid can the guy be! "

" 'Cause we all know it's just a bunch of cancer patients smoking pot. Please spare me. And, yes, even cancer patients will have psychological effects from marijuana consumption. Simple pharmacology. Whether this is a problem or not is another argument. I'm simply not in favor of street sales of marijuana (with guns) to all the lazy people who want to smoke up for their various bogus reasons. And I know they'll continue to do it, but rest assured I've taught my children to abstain. If they're smart and ambitious, they'll listen. So far so good. "

" Maybe he's not so dumb...pot gives me the munchies and when I have the munchies I order lots and lots of food. Sounds like a marketing plan conceived while he was testing his magical brownies. (Another marketing plan.) The cash actually belongs to me. I paid him for my "food" order in cash just before he left to participate in this illicit act...that I knew nothing about of course until now. How do I claim my cash? "

" i know don, He is a very nice guy. We all make mistakes, and you know what? its usually the ones who commit the most unharmful crimes that get punished the most. He was my salesman for a while, and if you knew him, you would say what a nice guy too. Dumb mistake, but hang in there Don. "
