Trinity Prep tells the tale of a giant, invisible rabbit

Trinity Grammar & Prep students present “Harvey,” the play that was the inspiration for the 1950 Jimmy Stewart movie about the friendship between Elwood P. Dowd and an invisible, six-foot rabbit.

Andrew Kersting plays the role of Elwood, a pleasant man who makes friends with everyone he meets until he introduces them to his friend Harvey. Then most shake their heads and go their own way. Dowd is unaffected by what he takes to be the envy of others, but being the town kook does not play well at home where his sister, Veta Louis (Julie Brumley), is busy trying to find a nice young man for their niece, Myrtle Mae (Megan Quinn).

 The unfolding story revolves around Veta’s attempt to get Elwood committed at Chumley’s Rest Sanitorium and Harvey’s machinations to make sure he isn’t.

A wonderful romp with a timely message for our busy, busy world, “Harvey” will be performed at Trinity’s “Theater Under the Stars,” 2500 Redwood Road, Napa, Thursday through Saturday, starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and can be purchased on site or by calling 258-9030.
