Justin-Siena softball team moves on in MCAL Tourney

6:30 p.m.Jeanette Alvarez’s RBI single to right field with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Justin-Siena softball team past visiting Tamalpais 4-3 in the first round of the Marin County Athletic League Tournament on Tuesday.

Alvarez drove in Caroline Devincenzi with the winning run for the Braves (15-7 overall).
Adri Schwartz picked up the pitching victory in relief of starter Lauren Mallin. Schwartz pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing no runs, two hits and one walk and striking out two.

Justin-Siena will play San Marin or Branson on Thursday or Friday in a 4 p.m. game at Alberts Field in San Rafael.
