Farmers markets, Oxbow stands to open

The farm stands at the Oxbow Public Market open Friday, offering local, organic and sustainable produce seven days a week.

St. Helena’s Market also starts Friday at Crane Park.

Napa Farmers Market opens Saturday,  and will run every Saturday and Tuesday through October in the Copia North Gardens parking lot.

Wine Literary Award for Charles Sullivan

The Wine Literary Award Foundation honored wine historian Charles L. Sullivan at a banquet and tasting of 1,000 American wines in San Francisco at the California Culinary Academy last Friday.

An updated version of his book Napa Wine: A History from Mission Days to the Present has recently been released.

Vin Lux offers wine transport/ warehousing

Two wine country families, the Jacksons and the Biagis, have created a new wine transport and warehousing company called Vin Lux.

Biagi Brothers is a Napa-based national wine shipping and warehouse company with more than 32 years of delivery experience and is headed by Greg and Fred Biagi, Jr.

Jess Jackson started Kendall-Jackson and owns numerous wineries including Cardinale and Freemark Abbey in Napa Valley.

Direct to Consumer Symposium

The first Direct to Consumer Symposium is tomorrow and Friday at the Meritage Resort.

It is presented by Coalition for Free Trade and Free the Grapes!

Women For WineSense in Napa Valley

Women throughout the country with a passion or professional interest in wine will descend on the Napa Valley this weekend to attend Women for WineSense’s 2008 Grand Event, Celebrating Women in Wine.

This year’s event will be hosted by honorary chair Michaela Rodeno, CEO of St. Supéry Winery.

The Grand Event Friday evening kicks off with a wine reception at Paraduxx Winery in Napa.

Saturday’s all-day program takes place at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St. Helena.

The festivities continue on Sunday with winery tours and tastings.

The price for the complete weekend is $195. Tickets for Saturday only are $140. Admission to Friday’s wine reception is $30 and Sunday’s special program is $40. Tickets are available at www.wws grandevent.org.
