Kids reach out

to local inmates
Dear editor,

I personally want to thank the members of the Silverado Middle School Boys and Girls Club. The club members worked for the last four weeks to send Easter greetings and good wishes to the less fortunate at our juvenile hall and county jail. It is very rewarding to see a group of middle school students thinking of others during this time in their life.
Thank you to the following club members: Murivi, Taylor, Michelle, Krystal, Jazzman, Biancha, Shelby, Ciara, Jesus, Jose, Angel, Kaycee, Eva, Ali, Sierra, Nicole, Marie, Somer, Brenda, Alexsandra, Brea and Jason. A special thank you also to officer Ed West, Supervisor Bill Dodd and the Silverado Boys and Girls Club Program Director Jack Atlasov and assistant Brendan Lesti. More than 95 cards were delivered for this Easter season.

" Inmates are the downtrodden victims of our society, and the liberal teachers are teaching our children that stuff? Our children are being taught to feel sorry for muggers, rapists, murderers, wife-beaters, thieves, and child molesters?

Inmates are the perpetrators of crimes, they have created many victims, and they are being punished by being incarcerated.

'The less fortunate"...??? Nonsense. They are locked up because of the harm they cause to our society. Give me a break.... "

" Dwayne: I could have never said it better. If they wanted to do something GOOD! What in the world was wrong with cheering up the elderly, disabled, or children shut in by catastrophic illness. "

" Thank You Dwayne, or are 100% correct. We are teaching are children twisted ideas. Less Fortunate? Please. So not only are we feeding them and giving them free medical care, now our children are bringing them cards? Something is seriously wrong with this. "

" Dwayne: I hope you are sitting down. I am in complete agreement with you.

I can't help but wonder why the media forgets to tell us if these criminals ar legal or illegal. Go figure. "

" Bravo Dwayne.
What in the world is wrong with these people?
Why don't you go the extra step and let us know EXACTLY (don't spare me the gory details, please!) what is that these "less fortunate people" do to be in Jail?

"Hey Teachers, leave the kids alone!...PF"

Someone I admire very much states that "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder" and I couldn't agree more. "

" Wonder if any of these kids took the time to send some easter greetings to veterans at the vets home? People are in jail to be punished, not to recieve good greetings!! "

" Yes, Dwayne has it correct! Well said sir! "

" Come on, guys, inmates are people too. Note that the article is about "local" inmates, i.e., people locked up at the county jail. Most of these people are small-time offenders (DUI, petty theft, smoking weed, etc.). We all know good people who have spent time in the county jail. Easter in jail has got to be lonely. I think it's great that the kids learn to respect and forgive all people. This is probably the closest thing to a religious education they'll ever get in the public schools. "
