" The earth has been gradually warming for thousands of years. We are overdue for a gradual cooling period leading to another ice age. The media, in their frenzy to sell newspapers (and today to fill TV air time) grasp at any flucuation in the climate and immediately scream global warming or global cooling (as they have done repeatedly over the last 100 years). The minor variations in temperature can only be manipulated to sound dangerous and catastrophic if they are massaged by "computer modeling". They throw in "feedback" parameters that "prove" huge temperature increases "soon". Unfortunately for the researchers, none of their projections ever come true. Remember Katrina? They all took credit for it. They all jumped up and said their models predicted more hurricanes and bigger hurricanes. Well guess what? The last two years have been record breakers for the lowest number of hurricanes to hit the US. So much for "models". We all used to laugh about how the government wished it could tax the very air we breath. Well, we aren't laughing now. They are not trying to tax air, they are trying to tax what we exhale, carbon dioxide. As with most things in life, it all comes down to money. Global warming means big bucks and has spawned an unholy alliance between Environmentalists and Socialists that threatens the economy of not only the US but the entire world... "

" What if the question said, What are you doing for global warming????Awareness let's all participate....Local solutions for a sustainable Napa Valley and promote the changes that can be done... "

" If you want to continue the debate, you should really check out this resource which provides information from both sides of the fence:
Climate Debate Daily

We believe humans should moderate their consumption regardless of global warming. We are in favor of positive changes to lead a more sustainable lifestyle. A friend of ours uses the following analogy. If you sit in a running car in a closed garage, the c02 can kill you. This is a proven scientific fact and no one in their right mind would debate it. So, what do we think happens when our collective exhaust remains trapped below the earth's atmosphere, in the air we breathe, in the lakes we fish? The debate isn't about whether were in a period of warming or cooling; it isn't whether we are responsible for do something or not; it is how much we have to do and how long we have to do it? Anyone who feels humans are not responsible for harming the planet should consider taking a puff from a tailpipe. Please do not actually attempt to do this. "

" Is the planet currently heating up? Possibly. Has this happened before? Absolutely. In fact, the mass extinction event at the end of the Permian era (250 Million years ago), where more than two-thirds of reptile and amphibian families perished and 95% of oceans life forms became extinct, was probably caused by poisonous volcanic gas, according to research published in the journal Geology. In more recent history, during the span of human existence, there have been several instances of climate change in which polar ice sheets have advanced and receded many times before any recorded history (or mechanization for that matter). The most recent of these ended in the mid 1800s. So, climate change is inevitable. We do not cause it, and we cannot stop it.

Now, does this mean we are free to waste resources and pollute our environment? Absolutely not! We all need clean air and water, and it is imperative that we are good stewards of those resources. We should absolutely recycle everything we possibly can. Developing renewable energy sources is important, not because fossil fuels contribute to global warming (breathing does too), but because those resources are limited. And quite frankly, if I can live a comfortable life, enjoying the technological benefits of our modern world (without paying PG&E for the privilege) so much the better.

" We are causing it this time. And the past natural occurrences simply show the vast damage such change does to the ecosystem. You are already paying for the privilege of comfort. You are just passing the buck to future generations. I just hope the right-wingers will for a moment stop their paranoia and start listening to scientists. "

" A little cyclical global warming is a good thing. Fewer people have died from freezing temps and crops flourish in warmer temps.

daenku32, show me your list of scientists and I will show you mine. "

Common Sense wrote on Apr 3, 2008 8:37 AM:

" Occasional warming happens. Things are cyclical in nature. The hype by the left is way overboard, and is not justified by the negligible evidence presented. Most of the case for global hype is based on computer models, which until recently when politics got involved, were considered unreliable...and highly subjective based on the initial conditions chosen. " There will be NO mistake about it. There will be SIGNS of the times ! We don't know anything ! There are many unexplained, mysterious happenings around the world, today. UFO's,Crop Circles,Global Warming and More to come. Stop-Look-Listen ! He is coming back and I welcome HIS return. This world is getting too sick ! He will save us from it out of HIS Love for us. "

" The Sierra Club is the CAUSE of much of our woes and NOT the Cure ! Somehow,a bunch of Worms got in there and spoiled the original intentions of the group. Now it's
used to take away our 'God Given Rights'. What a JOKE they are ! A Big reason we're burning coal and not nuclear. We gave away our technology to the French. Now,they're 10 years ahead of us ! On one hand,it's NO more co2 and then it's "build more coal plants" ! CRRAZY ! "

" Thank you Buzz! This blog is a perfect example of the global warming hypocrisy: the representative environmentist "earthandeconomy" obviously has no concept of the difference between CO and CO2, yet insists on telling everyone else how they should live their lives... "
