Follies du Valle returns April 4-6

Brace yourself, Napa Valley. The Follies du Valle — aka Don’t Quit Your Day Job — returns to Lincoln Theater April 4, 5 and 6 in its newest incarnation: “Eat Your Heart Out.”

Beethoven wrote 16 string quartets in his lifetime. The last five expressed his final musical ideas and, by and large, were not completely understood nor appreciated in his own time.

Mural painting camp for kids

Nimbus Arts is offering Mural Painting & Design Camp during spring break March 25-28. Instructor Will Callnan III and special guest artists will show kids ages 10 and up how to “go big” to create Earth Day art for the community. Students will recreate an image representing a tribute to Earth Day in portable mural form, using a super fun “paint by numbers” approach. Instruction will be given in drawing, shading and painting with vivid colors as well as techniques in mural layout. The bold, portable mural will be displayed in downtown St Helena. The camp takes place Tuesday through Friday, March 25-28, 1:30-4:30 p.m. The cost is $115 but scholarships are available and Nimbus noted, “No one will be turned away for financial reasons. Napa photographer’s winning work

“Champagne,” by Napa photographer Richard Bruns, has been garnering notice around the state, including winning a first place and best of show at the Dixon May Fair, and first place at the Napa and Lake County fairs. Bruns, who shot the photo with a Canon 20D and processed it with CS3 Photoshop, credits his Napa Valley College instructors Ron Rogers and Samanda Dorger, for help developing his award-winning talent.
