Needed: A new wine rating system
Many of us in the wine business are obsessed with wine scores. The prevailing 100-point scoring system, espoused by the Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate and other respected publications is useful to winemakers, trade and consumers. True, some wine folks consider numerical scores difficult to apply to things that appeal to the senses; they argue how could one give point scores to something so complex such as a sunset, love or taste. Leave the numbers to batting averages. Point well taken.
