" Why on earth you publish where the patrols will be, doesn't that defeat the purpose? "

" Kayd44: You’re absolutely right. How about if we start publishing every time we are going to raid some drug dealer’s house? After all, we want the public to know we are on the job, don’t we? The fact is, the public does not really see speeders and red light runners to be as much of a threat to safety as someone who just wants to get stoned. The fact is, the threat to public safety is greater from speeders and red light runners than the stoner since there are more speeders and red light runners. Nearly everyone exceeds the speed limit at some time every day, and many people think nothing of running a red light. And the mind set is always the same for anyone breaking any law; “It’s not that big a deal.” "

" Enforcing traffic laws is a good way to bring money (fines) into the city...I mean control traffic. However, the police needs to crack down on vandals, gangs and other criminal activities. "

" One of the objectives of traffic enforcement is to make the public aware of the locations that have a high volume of accidents. The first two locations on this list are in that category. It's not just about writing tickets. Now that this information is public, everyone who reads this article and blog just might be a little more careful driving in those areas and maybe an accident will be avoided.

Hudd, I agree that other criminal activity, including gangs, is important. But conisder for a minute how many lives have been lost to criminal activity in the last decade in the city of Napa. It's not as high as the number of lives lost to traffic accidents over that same time span. "
