Napa police responded early Friday morning to an alarm at Shackford’s in the 1300 block of Main Street.

There was no sign of forced entry and everything checked out, police said.
Then, about an hour and a half later a second alarm when off at the store.

Officers were on the scene within a minute and found someone had thrown a metal cover used to cover the water meters through the glass front door, police said.
The only thing missing were several boxes of CO2 cartridges used for whip cream dispensers, which were close to the front door.

" Just a wild guess but I don't think this person is going to be using these for whip creme. Whipits anyone? I've never actually done a whipit. I just assume that it kills a lot of brain cells really fast. Anyone know from experience? "

" Hmmm..another bold attempt at burglarizing? Sure sounds alot like the jerk that just broke into someone's home that was reported in the Register yesterday..Obviously whoever this person or persons are, are not afraid to make alot of noise. As for the C02 cartridges stolen, they were probably the only thing that could be grabbed quickly before the cops came. I don't know, sounds like it could be the same person(s), since most thiefs try to be alot quieter..Hope they catch the creep before he hurts someone.. "

" Someone got the CO2 information wrong.

The nitrous oxide in whipped cream chargers is also used by recreational drug users as an inhalant for its psychoactive effects. Chargers are also used as a cheap source of nitrous oxide for small, powerful model rockets. It's also called 'laughing gas' and used by dentists. "

" Now why did you have to go and bring the good 'ole Grateful Dead into it? If you were really there back in the day, "crack" was only known as something you saw behind the plumber...

On another note, how long before posters start debating how bad N2O is for the climate? "

" :) Rob I was there too, and as you said, crack was something we saw, nothing we "did". ewwwwww
