Former Yountville Town Manager Kevin Plett, who resigned on the spot after a performance evaluation by Yountville's Town Council last April, was named city manager of Mount Shasta this week.
Selected from a field of 18 candidates, Plett begins his new position on April 1.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the residents and council of the beautiful city of Mount Shasta,” said Plett. “I look forward to fulfilling the expectations of the council and the community with hard work and dedication to the job.”
Plett worked for eight years for Yountville, including five as town manager and previously as Yountville’s finance director, interim town administrator and assistant town administrator.
During that time, he contributed to the completion of numerous town projects, including the remodel of the community swimming pool and construction of a new town well, flood protection wall and two new parks.
Before Yountville, Plett was director of finance/treasurer for eight years with the City of St. Helena.
“The council is extremely confident in Kevin’s abilities and feels he will provide a high level of professionalism in his transition to the Mount Shasta City Manager position,” said Mount Shasta Mayor Russ Porterfield. “He appears to work well with the public and staff, and has demonstrated his leadership skills throughout his career.”
