11 a.m.The “Realtor of the Year” award goes to Doug Fowler of Napa for his service to the community.  Throughout the years, Fowler has volunteered for numerous service and community duties for the Napa Realtors association.

“I’ve worked with the best of the industry here in Napa Valley, and the education and commitment of professionals here is far greater than anything I’ve seen,” said Fowler about the Napa Valley real estate industry.
Fowler was one of 11 brokers from around the county who were asked to report on market trends over a recent several month period. These brokers have been quoted in CNN Money, USA Today, Reuters and CNBC.

Fowler has recently been involved with education on foreclosure related issues. He feels that Realtors have a responsibility to reach out to homeowners in foreclosure to help them understand their options.
Fowler began his real estate career in 1976. He formerly owned and operated his own company, and has served as manager in two of the state’s largest brokerage companies, including 13 years with Coldwell Banker Brokers of the Valley.

" Realtors by far are way over rated...Anyone could have sold houses over the past 5-8 YRS and made the hundreds of thousands that they all did... Instead of celebrating him as the realtor of the year why not ask him how many deals he and his asscociates made that are now in forclouse.. While they banked the cash with no regards to the people buying the over priced houses they well all pitching???? "

" Actually, napawineo, Coldwell Banker did all it could to help those who were in danger of foreclosure. However, Realtors are limited by Foreclosure Consultant laws, which basically restricts how much they are able to aid those affected by foreclosure. Doug actually appealed to the California Association of Realtors to end those laws so that he and his coworkers could help these people more. Even with these regulations, Coldwell Banker is an extremely ethical company. Doug estimates spending up to 20 hours counseling one pair of foreclosure-affected individuals. If you knew any of these people you would know how much they care about their clients. Instead of attacking people with false claims about topics of which you know nothing, why don't you do something constructive? "

" By the way veggie, you act as though the foreclosures have already come and gone....but they are only just beginning. 4 to 5 years down the road real estate agents may be able to call themselves sales people again instead of "counselors". Patronizing the people that you take advantage of is evil and something satan is famous for...hmmmm. But do not worry, Doug is here to save the day...hooray! "

" Well, I'm not exactly sure what you said Petebo, but I'm not going to disagree with you. I'm not pretending to understand a thing about real estate, I was just pointing out that Doug and other realtors are not as selfish, uncaring, and ove as napawineo seems to think they are. "
