On the day this column appears, I hope to be halfway across the world, far from the Register newsroom.

I first moved to Angwin in 1968, almost 40 years ago. Back then, there were 21 businesses operating here that I can name. Since then, 16 of them have gone and have not been replaced. Angwin is but a mere shadow of what it was back then. It was a great place to live.

I am writing on behalf of the Salvador Creek Property Owners. Nearly 40 years ago, I purchased my home, which borders the Salvador drainage ditch, near Vintage High.

The months of working, reworking, tweaking, panicking and joy about redesigning the Register’s Web site is over. Saturday the site went live and now we want to hear your thoughts about the site.

Dear editor, Bill Dodd’s recent quote in the Napa Valley Register by staff reporter David Ryan was right on (“Bridging the Money Gap,” Feb. 12).

Dear editor, Reading Mr. James R. McDonald’s letter concerning Keep Napa Napa (“Hold a vote on Napa Pipe,” Feb. 23) reminded us of our experience involving a phone call we received from this group.

Dear editor, Your recent article about the Bel Aire Plaza (“Taking a whack at parking problem,” Feb. 27) and the store manager of Pharmaca, Rosemarie Hari, was fabulous. Hats off to Rosemarie for taking some kind of action to protect her business. Cutting down the pylons was hysterical! It’s like, “c’mon, this is killing me.”

Dear editor, I learned about Vallejo’s financial predicament a few weeks ago. Amazingly, very little news has appeared in your newspaper.

Three times in my life I have been at the epicenter of overheated markets that ran their course though heady boom times before hitting sobering busts or “market corrections."

Did you catch the blood bath in the comments section after the Napa Fair announced that there would be a Mexican theme to the Fair this year, complete with Mexican music and food? Not that we all aren’t eating Mexican food a lot anyway. It was long and it was ugly.
