Out of reach
On the day this column appears, I hope to be halfway across the world, far from the Register newsroom.
Urban bubble debate aimed at torpedoing PUC
I first moved to Angwin in 1968, almost 40 years ago. Back then, there were 21 businesses operating here that I can name. Since then, 16 of them have gone and have not been replaced. Angwin is but a mere shadow of what it was back then. It was a great place to live.

Vintners' grant aids Legal Aid
Dear editor, The staff, board of directors and clients of Legal Aid of Napa Valley extend their utmost gratitude to the Napa Valley Vintners for awarding two very generous grants to Legal Aid from the proceeds of the 2007 Auction Napa Valley. Because of the Vintners' generosity, Legal Aid will be able to continue and expand its mission to provide free legal assistance to seniors, immigrants and low-income residents of Napa County.
Unhappy chickens don't lay eggs
Dear editor, You are receiving quite a few letters commenting on the quality of life of egg-producing chickens. What they all seem to lack is any knowledge about what makes a chicken content or unhappy.

Dear editor, Larry Holbrook is quite possibly the most talented teacher this side of the Mason-Dixon Line. He is the metal and auto shop teacher at Vintage High, but to most of his students, he is so much more.
What we don't know so far
After the concept of political inevitability, perhaps the biggest casualty of this primary season has been the value of political punditry.
No on Measure N
After months of reflection and hearing both sides of the issues, I have come around to opposing the Limiting Growth Initiative, Measure N. This is a different issue than being in favor of Napa Pipe, as I have serious reservations about the size of that project.
Is the compressed 2008 primary schedule better than the one used in the past?
