Pica Pica Glossary

Arepas (ah-ray-paz), grilled corn flour flatbread, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside

Recipe: Pica Pica Chupe

Chupes are the South American chowders; from Venezuela to Peru you will find many variations of this exquisite soup usually made with corn, potatoes, vegetables and either poultry, meat or seafood. It is said that “chupe” comes from the verb “chupar,” to suck, given because you will be tempted to lick every drop from the bowl. It is a spicy yet somewhat sweet creamy soup that is very wholesome as comfort food.
