Napa resident gets academic honors
Northeastern University recognizes those students who distinguish themselves academically. Napa resident Katherine M. Treweek, a student majoring in mathematics, was recently named to the university’s dean’s list for the fall semester 2007, ending in December 2007. To achieve the dean’s list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses and have a quality point average of 3.25 or greater. Each student receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college dean./Register
Local man returns from third tour
Lt. Steve Keisling returned home to Napa from his third tour. Steve spent two tours in Iraq Infantry, and one in Afghanistan Special Ops. He is a Special Operations Officer for MARSOP (Marine Special Operations). He was born and raised in Napa, and graduated from Sacramento State University./Register

Vintage student awarded medal
Dave Cornes of Vintage High School was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution Junior ROTC Medal on Feb. 9, at a DAR awards ceremony at the Grace Episcopal Church in Martinez. Cornes was recently promoted to chief petty officer, the highest rank in U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. He is a leader in the Rear Admiral Richard O’Kane Sea Cadet Unit which drills monthly at the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo. Cornes, who has aspired to be a naval officer since the sixth grade, is applying to the military academies with hopes of acceptance to U.S. Naval Academy. The Daughters of the American Revolution Junior ROTC Award is given to a cadet who has demonstrated academic excellence, dependability, good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the Reserve Officers Training Corps or Sea Cadets.
