Through your letters page I wish to send a message to my fellow citizens of Napa County. It was a quarter to 10 p.m. on the eve of Election Day, and the latest unofficial results were portraying a sad portrait of what our county views as what is important in our society. Our county is showing that private enterprise and private needs are more important than community needs.
Help send local kids to Carnegie Hall
The Napa Valley Youth Symphony has been honored with an invitation to play at Carnegie Hall in New York this June. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Napa’s musically talented young people from 21 different schools. It would be such a shame for them to be forced to decline this honor simply because of a lack of funds.
Big Napa help for Big Easy
The Napa community deserves applause for making the “Night of Music for New Orleans” concert a huge success. In addition to providing a spectacular display of local teenage musical talent, the concert raised funds to rebuild a community center in New Orleans.
Is voting early a bad idea?
