Evans should focus on local issues

Dear editor, Assemblywoman Noreen Evans, D-Santa Rosa, sent me an e-mail with a video of her harsh critique of the president’s State of the Union speech. Ms. Evans should focus on the problems in California and not look for scapegoats in Washington.

Ms. Evans says the federal No Child Left Behind Act has been a failure. That act is not the reason that California schools rank in the bottom 10 percent nationally in most categories except spending, where California is average. Ms. Evans thinks the president should have addressed global warming, and yet the California renewable portfolio standard of 20 percent by 2010 will not be met by the major utilities because of regulatory constraints. She believes the Iraq conflict has led to a “bad feeling about the United States throughout the world.” If she is correct, then why was French  President Sarkozy elected on a pro-United States platform?
Ms. Evans should focus her efforts in her district and leave the punditry to the talking heads in D.C. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

" It is always of interest to me that people elect irresponsible individuals to legislative positions. What does the candidate say to get elected as opposed to what positions they take after they are seated. Global warming? My GAWD!! How about eliminating, reducing and not creating agencies and bureaucracies? I can’t help but wonder where all the Indian Gaming money will actually go. I am dubious that those monies will help pay off the state’s considerable deficit. When government gets a new source of income, they usually add more bureaucrats to spend it. When Gerry Brown became Governor, he took our emergency surplus and created duplicitous agencies that the federal government had already created; and most of them were unnecessary. Bureaucracies do not solve problems; their ultimate priority is to survive and grow. That costs money—Your money.
Ms. Evans doesn’t seem to understand there are limits to government extortion of citizen’s incomes and I just hope The People are realizing that fact. "

" Like the other posts...elect incompetent people without business experience and you end up with an incompetent government...the disgusting part of this is the massive wealth these New Democrats have amassed selling their votes, why their hasn’t been any ‘investigative’ reporting into the assets being hid can largely be explained by the fact that 90% of the reporters support the Democrat Party.
