Prep report: Napa High's McChesney places sixth at state wrestling championships
Napa High School wrestler Alyx McChesney placed sixth at the California Women’s Wrestling Association State Championship, held Friday and Saturday in Hanford.
She went 6-3 in the 122-pound weight class — the largest bracket at the event, which featured more than 350 grapplers.
McChesney was also honored in a ceremony for her eighth-place finish at the 2007 United States Girls Wrestling Association Nationals Championships in Michigan last spring, and with graduating seniors as leaders in women’s wrestling.
She is preparing to travel with the CWWA’s Team California to compete in both Oregon and Washington state championships in March.
